Look at those two up there! The Locust and Gears clans, joining together finally for peace and happiness between the two factions. Happy at last after years of fighting and confrontations, sharing their territory with each other finally. I want you to take away the chainsaws, or better yet, imagine that those two chainsaws are essentially candles. Symbolic candles, like those you would see in a wedding ceremony that are used to show the joining of two families coming together. Wait? What’s that? Oh, there is going to be double XP weekend and whoever wins this fight gets 500 bonus XP? SHIT! Kill ‘em ALL!
Taking a gander over at the testosterone filled Gears of War 2 forums lets you know all of the ingredients needed to make a Gears man. What is needed to make a Gears man you ask? Why, its bulging sweaty biceps, back hair, stubble, a soul patch of hair under the bottom lip, and quite possibly a do-rag (optional). You will also find a few chatty characters in the Gears forums as well, probably complaining. Deep inside the forums is a post laying the groundwork for a very busy Labor Day weekend for US celebrators. It’s time for another double XP extravaganza hosted by Epic Games.

The latest edition of EGM reports that Epic and Cliffy B are already working on Gears of War 3, slated to come out in fall of 2010. No one is surprised here and we all hoped it would be official as soon as possible. One major rumor is that it will have a 5 player co-op for the campaign, which was a huge omission from Gears 2, especially when there is often at least 4 COGs on screen at any given time. They also promise an updated Unreal engine. So sit back, relax, and we will have to wait for the conclusion of the Gears saga until at least 2010.

Since selling 2 million units on it’s opening weekend Gears of War 2 has been working it’s way to it’s next milestone. Edge Online has confirmed that in an email from Mark Rein, VP of Epic Games, Gears of War 2 has now surpassed 3 million units sold.
This ginormous number has been achieved in about 4 weeks, the original Gears of War took about ten weeks to accomplish the same feat. The original went on to sell around 5 million units so the sky is the limit for Epic Games massive hit. Does anyone want to venture a guess as to where Gears of War 2 will end up in total sales? I will personally hold you to it.
