If you didn’t get a chance to watch the Sony press conference, your lucky, Resistance 2 was the shiny thing in the otherwise poop filled conference. Here is the video they showed of a 300 foot Chimera that has you running form building to building in hopes of destroying it. Resistance looks just as good as the first one and is boasting a much more expanded multiplayer experience. Getting thrown through a building FTW.
Here is a look at MAG (Massive Action Game) for the PS3. I have to say that the title of this game is horrible, it needs to be renamed and fast.
Andy from Zipper mentions that they will be taxing the PS3 in making this game and it will be a multiplayer game only. It sounds like different squads will get specific objectives to complete on a map. It may be that in order for one squad to move on you need to destroy or deploy a bridge and things like that? Andy keeps a lot of information a secret, but does say that it will release next year and be set in the near future approximately 10 years in the future.
Again I think the concept of having 256 players is awesome, but I will need to see it in action before I am a true believer that this would be more than a cluster F. Check out the video and notice that most of it is CG rendered.
Hit the jump for the interview with Andy from Zipper where he talks more about MAG and what it will do. Read More »
Our good buddy Majornelson gives a wrap-up of what many are calling the best press conference at E3. Aside from the Netflix addition, major dashboard changes, awesome trailers, and oh yeah, Final Fantasy XIII coming, MS showed why they are at the top of the next gen pyramid. With Nintendo and Sony showing nothing worth mentioning, MS is making its bid to be the frontrunner for the immediate future.
Even though the graphics of MAG looked spot on and at first glance having 256 players on at the same time sounds pretty great, how will this work logistically?
MAG was announced for the Sony PS3 and is boasting 256 player online action, broken up into squads of 8 man teams. So you basically have 32 teams battling, with a leader on each squad/team based on skill and experience. Will the leader of each time have some control of the members of his team? If not it will be utter chaos. Having 256 players running and gunning will get hectic and probably dilute the experience by having a large percentage of players that are clueless or off doing their own Rambo thing. Read More »
Here is the E3 trailer for Fable II, there are some mixed reviews on this one after watching this. People are questioning just how non-linear the gameplay really is, which is something about the first one that I had problems with. The definition or change between good and evil was not that drastic and really only meant that your hair turned white and you grew horns if you were evil and you had a glow about you if you became very heroic. I am curious to see how the decision trees in the game shape up and how different the story lines become based on your decisions. Also they need to show more of your companion, the fuzzy dog, will there be different models for it and will it be able to kill enemies? I do like the opening of the story where you are thrown out of a window as a small child, that will leave an impression on you for sure.
I can sum up the Nintendo press conference in one word… BORING! Nothing was said that was even remotely close to interesting.
The conference opens up with Shaun White and his new snow boarding game, which is confirmed will use the balance board. Then Satoru Iwata babbles on and on about a paradigm shift in gaming and never makes it to a valid point. Iwata’s babble went on for about 10 minutes, which seemed like forever.
Nintendo gives E3 a new acronym: E3 is Engaged, Enriched and Enthused. Ok if you say so? Read More »
Fans of the classic Galaga shooter may want to brace themselves for this one, Galaga Legions looks totally different and re-imagined. Take the original Galaga and give it 2 gallons of Red Bull and some Steroids and you get Galaga Legions. This new iteration looks fast paced and frantic, with colors and explosions everywhere. Very impressive and sure to cause at least a few seizures world wide.
Don Mattrick took the stage first in the Microsoft E3 press conference and talked about some sales data of the Xbox 360 and its software attachment rate. Pretty convincing and good numbers. They then moved into some cool new hardcore games coming to the system.
Fallout 3 was first, with a playable demo shown. There will be DLC exclusive to 360 and Games for Windows. The game has lot’s of choice and lot’s of weapons and will offer 100+ hours of gameplay set in post nuclear Washington, DC.
Microsoft dropped the details on a brand new interface for the Xbox 360 during their E3 press conference. You’ll be able to use your Avatar and create parties with up to 8 people for all kinds of cool stuff.
They’re taking the whole casual initiative to another level with all the new content coming, including Netflix integration and new casual games.
We’ll have more in our full Microsoft E3 Press Conference as soon as things wrap up. Stay tuned.
