Rumor: E3 Finally Going Public Again

A huge sigh of disappointed could be heard at the end of gaming’s biggest domestic conference this year. It was the show of announcements that never happened and left gamers with very little to be excited for. Some experts blame the reason that developers are saving announcements for their own mini-conferences and forums where gamers will be there and not forced to watch it on their lunch break.  Word on the street is that the board who call the shots for E3 is seriously considering dropping the “press only” tag in hope of generating interest in the show that failed to deliver this past year. Is it too late to save E3? Maybe. We will all care a lot less if we aren’t even allowed to attend what is supposed to be about gaming and not exclusion.

GameTrailers Awards Best Trailer of E3

If anyone has the authority to award Best Trailer, it might be GameTrailers. Hell, that’s what they do. But just who won the award? There were some damn good ones, but the winner was… Nah, I’m not telling you. Check it out for yourself.

Xbox President Says Rivals are Slacking

Lazy

No one can be dispute the E3 was beat nuts this year. Furthermore, Nintendo and Sony pressers were so bad, that Microsoft was the clear winner, despite the fact that they had a mediocre at best press conference. Whenever MS gets a leg up on someone, they will let you know. This is what Xbox head Don Mattrick had to say:

“Of course I’m going to be biased, but so far what I’ve heard is that Sony and Nintendo have disappointed. And Microsoft has been leading, innovating and driving a very comprehensive global programme.”

“We’re building momentum and we’re on a scale that no other consumer electronics company or entertainment company has been able to achieve in nine years. It’s been a very good show and I’m very pleased with what we’ve been able to accomplish. I think there was a lot of good work, a lot of innovation and a lot of news from us.”

I can’ t say I blame MS for being “king shit on turd mountain”, but it’s funny whenever MS does good, they shout it from the mountains. Yet, when they sell absolute dick last month i.e. the NPD numbers where they lost to the PS2, we hear nothing.

Mercenaries 2: New Job Trailer

Mercenaries was one of the best titles on the Xbox. I still play it to this day. A true sandbox adventure where you could destroy anything and were rewarded for it. The game also let you complete the mission anyway you wanted. Don’t feel like walking, chopper in or ram a tank up someone’s ass. Here is a nice look at Mercs 2. Here is the E3 trailer.

What is Bungie Up To?

bungie3qy.jpg

E3 came on went without a whiff of anything Bungie related. There homepage had a countdown which has thus expired and tells us to wait longer for what they are planning. Now, we hear that a new Halo game has been confirmed. This game is not Halo Wars or the Peter Jackson project we have heard so much about.  There is definitely something afoot at Bungie. We want answers. Please?

Microsoft E3 Wrap-Up

Our good buddy Majornelson gives a wrap-up of what many are calling the best press conference at E3. Aside from the Netflix addition, major dashboard changes, awesome trailers, and oh yeah, Final Fantasy XIII coming, MS showed why they are at the top of the next gen pyramid. With Nintendo and Sony showing nothing worth mentioning, MS is making its bid to be the frontrunner for the immediate future.

Microsoft E3 2008 Press Conference Wrap Up

Loot Ninja Faceplate on my Xbox 360

Don Mattrick took the stage first in the Microsoft E3 press conference and talked about some sales data of the Xbox 360 and its software attachment rate. Pretty convincing and good numbers. They then moved into some cool new hardcore games coming to the system.

Fallout 3 was first, with a playable demo shown. There will be DLC exclusive to 360 and Games for Windows. The game has lot’s of choice and lot’s of weapons and will offer 100+ hours of gameplay set in post nuclear Washington, DC.
