When will the studios learn that not everything can be made into a movie!? Looks like the newest iteration will take our good friends Goku and Trunks to the silver screen, Dragon Ball Z will get a live action movie and from the looks of this early leak from Europe, it looks terrible. Chow Yun Fat without a gun just makes no sense, in fact he should not be allowed to make a movie unless he has two guns in his hands. I also like how the main character is American, they couldn’t find a Japanese lead actor?
What do you think enough with the live action business or long live the DBZ movie?
As I sit down to review the newest installment of the DBZ fighting series, it occurs to me just how big of an impact the casual market has had on the video game world. I bring this up having played the previous installments and have found that in comparison, Burst Limit’s controls and gameplay have been…not dumbed-down…not streamlined…simplified. That’s the one. This is one of those make-or-break moments in a series where some of the old faithful might feel slighted as the game becomes more approachable to the average gamer. I suppose for the hardcore it’s like your mother forcing you to let your kid sister into you and your buddy’s tree fort.
Oooh, nice analogy. I am currently patting myself on the back for that one. Go me.
Dragon Ball Z is a huge franchise, but I think it is one thats time has passed it by, especially here in the US. DBZ was a giant anime a few years back, but you just don’t see that many kids watching it anymore, they have moved on. This is still huge in Japan, but in Japan not many people purchase Xbox 360’s, they just never gravitated to the console. This seems like flawed logic to release this title on the 360, I would have left it as a PS3 exclusive and hoped it had the same success of Budokai, I don’t foresee much 360 action here stateside because of lack of interes and in Japan because of lack of console love. The game looks pretty solid so far, but I don’t see myself purchasing this one. What do you think?
I’ve never been a huge fan of the Dragon Ball Z series. For some reason, it never clicked with me as much as some other anime I watch regularly. Not to say it’s not good, it’s just not in my regular rotation. I also haven’t played much of the previous games, since they haven’t been very good. Atari has upped the ante with Burst Limit and made a game that everyone should play, even if you don’t like anime.
Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is a fighting game, but it provides a story. I know, that’s not something you’re used to see in a fighting game. Each stage pits you against another foe that stands in your way. What exactly is that story? We’re not sure from the demo, but it already seems cool. What really pulled me in, though, is the great graphics (it seriously looks like you’re playing the show) and the very solid gameplay.
Do you take video games with you to the office too much? I can tell you one thing, this is what Steve does on a daily basis at the office. And it’s damn scary, people. I know there’s one person where you work that does something like this every day. Check out this guy going all Dragon Ball Z on the water cooler. Yeah, that’s right, the water cooler.
We're like Spaceballs... we're making Loot Ninja everything. Coming soon we'll have hats, shirts, hoodies, possibly banana hammocks if one Editor has his way...
