Holy lots of DLC, Batman. Harmonix is dropping the hammer this week, being the release of Rock Band 2 for the 360 and all. We get a full album and a bunch of other tracks. The full album of Megadeth’s “Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?” will be available. The title track is on the disc for Rock Band 2 and the additional 7 songs will be available for download. You can snag these for $10.99 (880 MS Points) for the album or the usual $1.99 (160 MS Points) each.
Wake Up Dead
The Conjuring
Devil’s Island
Good Mourning / Black Friday
Bad Omen
I Ain’t Superstitious
My Last Words
In other news, a four song track pack for the Rock Band tour is also coming. You can grab these for $3.99 (320 MS Points) for the pack or $0.99 each (80 MS Points) until October 14th when the prices double.
“One of Those Nights” by the Cab
“Hands Down” by Dashboard Confessional
“She’s a Handsome Woman” by Panic! At the Disco
“Natural Disaster” by Plain White T’s
Some good stuff all around. Since I grabbed Rock Band 2 today, I’ll probably be skipping these for a bit until I finish all the new tracks in the game. That, and I’m going to be hella drunk and watch football all day
You can chalk another achievement to the people over at LucasArts. SW: TFU had wowed many a fan with the gameplay trailers and promised total control over your surroundings with a truly original backstory. Now, many a gamer has downloaded the demo on the Xbox 360 and the PS3. 2.3 Million of them. Truly amazing. Now we have to see if the game is a force of its own. Double Pun FTW.
Yes, that Stephen Colbert. I DVR the Colbert Report every day, so I’ve seen this video pop up in the past. If you haven’t, check out the former Presidential candidate with an 80’s homage to stalking in “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You)“. The track is short and easy on Rock Band, but it’s funny and a lof of fun. Most of all, it’s free.
The track is out now on the Xbox Live Marketplace for Gold members only (Silver members have to wait). The PSN will get the track later today with the regular PlayStation Store update. Since this track is free, there’s absolutely no reason you shouldn’t download this. Don’t go crying about hard drive space, either.
In case you want to see what you’re getting into, here’s what you can expect on Expert Drums. Expert Guitar video after the break. Laugh people. Laugh.
Metal, metal, and more metal. This week we get a 3-pack from All That Remains. Here’s the tracks:
This Calling
Chrion
Two Weeks
You can grab these next week for $0.99 (80 MS Points) each for $2.99 (240 MS Points) for the pack. This is limited time pricing for one month only, so if you want these, grab them now. Next month, they’ll go up to $1.99 (160 MS Points) each and $5.99 (480 MS Points) for the pack.
As we roll into September, Harmonix looks to do some good with the weekly Rock Band DLC. All the money from sales of this week’s tracks will go directly to Child’s Play. A very nice move on their part! Here’s the songs in the PAX Pack (Penny Arcade Expo for those of you keeping track):
“Skullcrusher Mountain” — Jonathan Coulton
“Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe” — MC Frontalot
“Shhh….” — Darkest of the Hillside Thickets (previously unreleased track)
All the tracks will go for $0.99 (80 MS Points) or you can grab the pack for $2.99 (240 MS Points). I’ll pick these up just to help out Child’s Play. You should do the same.
The full album releases for Rock Band started off slow, but have gotten better. Even with the technical delays of Rush’s Moving Pictures, it’s still a good time. For the sequel, Harmonix is already detailing some full albums that will get DLC releases.
Foo Fighters — “The Colour and the Shape”
Red Hot Chili Peppers — “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”
Jane’s Addiction — “Nothing’s Shocking”
Megadeth — “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying”
Stevie Ray Vaughn — “Texas Flood”
No Doubt — Compilation album made specifically for Rock Band 2
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m a big fan of all of these bands. And these are some of their best albums. It’s safe to say I’ll be buying all of them. I’m wondering if Guitar Hero Wold Tour will be able to match the quality and quantity (and price) of DLC in Rock Band?
Well, the Rush album got delayed. But that doesn’t mean Rock Band won’t have any content. Harmonix did their best and pushed out a pack of songs by Locksley. I said the same thing. Who? Here’s the tracks:
“She Does” - Locksley (80 MS Points / $1)
“Dont Make Me Wait” - Locksley (80 MS Points / $1)
“All Over Again” - Locksley (80 MS Points / $1)
You can snag the pack for $3 or 240 MS Points, whichever way you roll. It’s out now, so grab it if you wish. I’ll pass.
I’m all over this like a fat kid on a cupcake. Rush is one of my favorite classic rock bands and Moving Pictures is one of their best albums. Harmonix is releasing the full album next week for Rock Band. Hell yes! Here’s the track list:
Tom Sawyer (Original Version)
Red Barchetta
YYZ
Limelight (Original Version)
The Camera Eye
Witch Hunt
Vital Signs
Tom Sawyer shipped with the game and Limelight was released as DLC, but both are covers. These are master recordings, bitches. The tracks will all run $1.99 (160 MS Points) each as usual and the album will cost $10.99 (880 MS Points). Sweet! You know when and where to get it.
Yes, I know. These are already out on Xbox 360. Catching up on vacation has me run ragged. But alas, I’m here to let you know what’s out for Rock Band this week. It’s all metal-ish, so it might be right up your alley or an easy pass.
“Runnin’ Wild” by Airbourne
“Clouds Over California” by DevilDriver
“Constant Motion” by Dream Theater
“My Curse” by Killswitch Engage
“Aesthetics of Hate” by Machine Head
“Sleepwalker” by Megadeth
All these tracks are available for the budget price of $0.99 (80 MS Points) or $5.99 (480 MS Points) for the pack. I’m probably going to pass on these. What about you?
