Apple is finally allowing developers to issue promotional copies of their applications. The application must be accepted into the store first, then the developer will be allowed to give out up to 50 codes to redeem at the App Store. At the moment, the codes can only be redeemed at the U.S. App Store through the “Redeem” quick link on the right hand side of the store.
In the past, developers were forced to hand out Ad-hoc versions of their applications which was also limited to a set number. Many developers have now resorted to handing out gift cards for review copies. Developers will be allowed to issue 50 more codes for each new version of the application.
Apple took their sweet time but they have finally listened to developers.
