Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 Demo Out Today

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 Screen

Saw this info from EA this morning and said “OOOOH” out loud. I’m an avid golfer, so whenever a new Tiger Woods game drops, I’m on it like Scuba on a cupcake. The demo is available right now on the Xbox 360 and will be available on the PSN later today with its regularly scheduled update.

Playing through the demo gives you two holes on both Bethpage Black and Turnberry, as well as a Tournament Challenge on the 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

Right now, I’m on the fence about whether I want to pick up this year’s iteration. I have 09 for the Wii and really enjoy that, but we’ll see what happens after I play the demo. It’s taking forever to download at 1.57gb.

Demo Impressions: Marvel vs. Capcom 2

marvelvscapcomfixposter

Sometimes it’s friggin’ creepy how things click together. A couple weeks ago I had attempted to play my Dreamcast version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 when I realized that the disk had gotten a bit too scratched over the years and was rendered unplayable. A few days went by and I remembered the old ‘toothpaste trick’ and fixed the disk enough to play it. And hot damn I had forgotten how awesome this game was.

Then Matt tells me that the Dreamcast/ NAIOMI code of MvC2 was being brought to the 360 and PS3. The game doesn’t come out for a few more months, but the demo came out on Thursday. So being a huge fighting game junkie (especially so for Capcom fighting games), I downloaded the demo and went to town.

Wanna know how cool it was? Click the link and I’ll tells ya.

Demo Impressions: Bionic Commando Rearmed Multiplayer

Bionic Commando Screen

Capcom has completely re-imagined their NES classic Bionic Commando. The game is coming this Spring and all the trailers and screenshots have us eagerly waiting to throw a tank and someone with our huge robotic arm.  The demo is a taste of the multi player mode and we get to try out a map that takes place at night on top of a building. The game starts of with every Commando, all the players start out the same in very bright colored attire, scattered around the map. There are weapons strewn about as well as health and armor upgrades. The object is very simple. Kill as many of the other commandos as you can before the timer runs out.

Demo Impressions: UFC 2009: Undisputed

UFC 2009 Undisputed Screen 2

Mixed Martial Arts has taken over the sport of fighting. It has surpassed boxing as far as fan interest is concerned. Now that MMA has assumed its seat on the throne, it is time for a great video game to come out. Boxing has Fight Night. UFC now has Undisputed. The demo was just released. This game has to start from scratch and has to find a way to incorporate all of the nuances into the science that is MMA. UFC 2009: Undisputed has a move list that will make Street Fighter 4 blush.

Demo Impressions: Ninja Blade

Ninja Blade Screen

The demo for Ninja Blade was released in Japan late last year, but this is our first taste of it here in the States.  The demo introduces you to the main character, Ken Ogawa, who is out to save Tokyo from deadly parasites known as alpha-worms.  Of course, you are the only one who can stop them.  Alright, so you weren’t interested in Ninja Blade for the story anyway, it’s all about the gameplay, but is it any good?

The demo starts you off in a helicopter where your “master” is explaining the task at hand.  In no time, you are free falling from the helicopter dicing up monsters as you fall.  This is where you immediately receive your first taste of the cinematic action sequences.

Riddick Demo Now Available on Xbox 360

Riddick Dark Athena Screen

Fear not Riddick fans. The time is close at hand. Atari wants you to know just how damn good Assault on Dark Athena is by releasing a demo on the Xbox 360 today. Based on our earlier conversations with the developers, the PS3 demo will most likely be released in tomorrow’s PSN update.

The demo gives you a chance to take a look at the main decks level of Dark Athena (it’s a giant ship that you’re hijacking, in case you didn’t know). You’ll be able to try out all of Riddick’s cool moves. All of us here at Loot Ninja were huge fans of Butcher Bay and loved what we saw when we got hands on with the game last month. Check out our preview here for the full scoop.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is scheduled to drop on April 7th for all platforms, so get some time in with the demo for the next month and get ready to shiv some bitches.

Demo Impressions: MLB 2K9

MLB 2K9 Screen 1

Baseball. Finally. You know it is almost time for THE season to start when the baseball games start coming out. MLB 2K9 makes a return this year and has one goal in mind: Closing the gap between itself and MLB: The Show. Xbox 360 fans have no choice, which blows, but PS3 gamers do and they chose The Show in overwhelming numbers. Last years iteration, MLB 2K8 was not bad, but it was not great. They completely revamped the pitching mechanic and it was a disaster. It was easier to throw a curve ball in reality than do it on the virtual diamond. Did MLB 2K9 make huge strides this year? It did and we are very excited.

MLB 2K9 Demo Now Available on 360, Thursday on PS3

MLB 2K9 Screen 1

After sitting in on developer conference call for MLB 2K9 last Friday, my anticipation for this year’s 2K Sports baseball title wasn’t very high. The past few year we’ve heard the “going back to basics” speech, so hearing it again did not give me a lot of hope for this year’s title, even if Kush Games was out as the developer and Visual Concepts was in. Today, 2K released a demo for MLB 2K9 on the Xbox 360 (PS3 version coming on the Thursday update).

I played the demo a few times and, to my surprise, I was impressed. The game actually plays well this year, thanks to Visual Concepts. There are still quite a few things that don’t bring the game up to the level of Sony’s The Show, but it’s a huge huge step in the right direction for 2K.

The 849mb demo shouldn’t take you too long to download. If you don’t have a PS3, I can honestly say it’s not a bad move to buy the 2K baseball game this year. If you do have a PS3, I’d still go with MLB 09 The Show. We’ll have full reviews for both games in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for those.

Demo Impressions: Tom Clancy: H.A.W.X.

Hawx

When the name Tom Clancy is stamped on a game, you are assured that it will at the very least be good if not great. Since Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and Rainbow 6 landed in next gen, they have tried to expand into other war related markets such as RTS and now Flight Sim. Is their attempt to conquer the fighter pilot genre a foregone conclusion? We will have to wait and see.
