Aliens: Colonial Marines Delayed, Mostly…..

Aliens: Colonial Marines

Aliens: Colonial Marines was announced first, not that Alien vs. Predator game!  I want Colonial Marines NOW! (Please do not take that last statement out of context…….)

If you have been patiently waiting for Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines like I have, then prepare to wait even longer.  First announced back in February of 2008, its taken quite awhile to get the alien hatchlings ready to attach to your face.  Not to worry though, Colonial Marines won’t be the only Alien themed game set to come out in 2010.  The other (Alien vs. Predator) game will also of course feature Aliens, Marines, and even Predators; Oh my!

Dragon Age: Origins Delayed Until November

dragonage

Hey, you know that game – Dragon Age: Origins?  The one by Bioware?  Come on, you know – the one with all the blood, awkward sex, and Marilyn Manson?  Well it looks like the game has slipped from it’s October release to early November – a whole two weeks.

Dragon Age was announced back in 2004 and was originally developed as a PC only title, and Bioware has since delayed the game a handful of times in order to have console versions (both 360 and PS3) and to have the PC release coincide with the console releases.  Two weeks isn’t a terribly long time to wait, but if you’re a RPG fan like myself, you’re itching for another highly polished Bioware game to get your fix.

Plus there are boobs.

Fable II Knothole Island DLC Delayed

It was only a few days ago that we posted about Knothole Island’s achievements and were gearing up for it’s impending December 22nd release date.  It looks like they are taking it all away from us, at least for another month.

On the official xbox.com page there is a giant wall of red text stating that there have been unforeseen technical difficulties and the Fable II DLC Knothole Island is going to be delayed until late January.  As a result of this delay the download and win sweepstakes are also being pushed back until further notice.  A new release date has yet to be announced.

The positive side to all of this is that you will all have even more time to spend with your friends and family this holiday instead of playing some silly DLC.

Ooops… Little Big Planet Still Advertised for Pre-Delayed Release Date

This is a shot from Best Buy’s circular this Sunday, October, 19, still showing LittleBigPlanet coming out this week.  And, as Yaris posted about yesterday, the game has been postponed until next week.  His post goes on to explain the reason for pushing back the release date is the discovery that one of the background music tracks in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qu’ran.  The game was pushed back to rectify the situation and avoid further offending anyone.

Now, this is not a “look how stupid Best Buy is,” post.  In fact, the Sunday ads for Circuit City, Target, Toys R’ Us, and probably a few others contained the same thing, and some (including Best Buy) tagged with, “Date subject to change.”  It seems to be just a case of the release date changing after the ad material already went to press.  This is, instead, a sort of letter of sympathy to any who work in video game retail for having to give the above explanation to who knows how many pissed off parents and uninformed gamers looking to grab one of the years most anticipated games on the date given in the circular.

Word of advice:  Sometimes less said is best said.  When asked why you don’t have the game, just say, “It got delayed,” and if asked why just say…well, just say, “it’s complicated.”
