CAN I GET MY PICTURE TAKEN WITH THIS ZOMBIE? NO?THEN WHAT’S WITH THE CAMERA?!
I kind of rolled my eyes when I first received this game from Matt. I played it for a few minutes and immediately wrote it off as a crappy port of the Xbox 360 favorite. A day or so later I decided to play through so I could effectively write a review. Much to my surprise, I found that although it was far from a perfect game, Dead Rising: CTYD was actually pretty damn fun to play.
I do all these editorials on this site with themes of patience and not judging a book by its cover. I’m glad I took my own advice for once. So click on the link to see if you should or shouldn’t make a rental/purchase (and what to expect if you do).
The Wii doesn’t have the horsepower to hold up the the Xbox 360 or PS3, but that doesn’t mean it can’t produce a good looking game. Capcom recently released Dead Rising: Chop till you Drop on the Wii. Does it hold up to the Xbox 360 version that came out almost two years ago? I don’t think so, but you be the judge.
A recent “unintended” slip from a writer on the official SCEA blog hints that he is definitely not going to admit that PS3 will be getting the former Xbox 360 bestseller Dead Rising, but he can put a smiley after it saying he cannot admit it.

Cool contest John..but I am sure I won’t win, I never do.
I must say that it is awesome that you announced Dead Rising for the PSN, right?

Who announced it? Me? I don’t think so!
I think it is super lame when people try to catch what they say when they are typing. For some reason you were so excited that you couldn’t press the backspace button. Anyhow, good news for PS3 fans and we can be sure that Dead Rising 2 will be coming everyone’s way sooner than later. I love balls on my face! Whoops, didn’t mean to say that out loud.
Do you want to Chop Till You Drop? Dead Rising was a blast on the Xbox 360 and looks to be damn fun with motion controls on the Wii. I’m in zombie killing mode right now with Left 4 Dead anyway, so this just amps me up. Screw those zombies.
That’s the underlying cause between the lawsuit against Capcom filed by the MKR Group – representing New Line Cinema. Capcom was seeking an injunction against MKR to prevent the lawsuit from going through. But that didn’t seem to go so well for Capcom – because it ain’t happening. New Line Cinema insists that the suit is a matter of intellectual property infringement. Hit the jump for more »

We all know Dead Rising 2 is coming. Capcom has already stated that much. When it’s coming and for what systems are still a mystery, as is how the gameplay will evolve.
Our friends over at The Gaming Life got some inside info about the game, which may see a teaser trailer at this year’s E3″
“The environments for Dead Rising 2 look absolutely beautiful. They put a lot of effort and work into them. The zombies had not been added into the game yet, but the area looked even bigger then the original mall. The setting for it looks a lot like Las Vegas except somehow you are trapped only in a small section of the city with about 4 or 5 casinos, some restaurants, shopping areas and a lot of stores altogether. It looked very much like the strip in Las Vegas, but they didn’t show a whole lot to make an accurate portrayal. That an I know Resident Evil: Apocalypse is set there so I am unsure if they would go this route. All I can say for sure is that the setting was much bigger then the small town mall.”
How is it possible for a company to drop 12% of their overall net profit for the 2006-2007 fiscal year and still be happy about it? Capcom expected to lose a lot more than that according to Gamespot. The company had figured with the switching of consoles and how much they would cost the consumer, that they would have a higher drop off, but two titles saved their necks. According to their publisher:
“One of the significant accomplishments is that both Dead Rising and Lost Planet for Xbox 360 achieved sales of one million copies due to their great popularity in the US and Europe,”
Capcom has more games slated for release this fall such as Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for the Xbox360.
There are not that many must have Xbox360 titles, maybe 10-15 at best, but Dead Rising is certainly one of them. You can now pick this title up for $39.99 brand new at amazon.com. They will even ship it to you for free unless you live in like the Ozarks or somewhere weird.
