David Jaffe, the man behind some of Sony’s greatest titles like Twisted Metal and God of War, drops a little colorful knowledge on us and how he feels about some things going down. This is a direct quote from his personal blog:
“ps. I saw GOD OF WAR III when I was in Santa Monica last week. I can and will not give away details. But I think it’s ok for me to say two things:
a- HOLY HOLY HOLY FUCKING HELL!
b- I thought GEARS OF WARS 2 looked about as good as a next-gen game could look… and that game is currently- and will probably remain- my game of the year. And hell, I think I actually get to vote on that kind of stuff in some circles And unless I get blown away by POP or something else I missed, GEARS 2 is the SHIT… this year. Dudes and dudettes, fucking WAIT till you see the amazing graphics… just fucking wait. And yes, Xbots, accuse me all you want of being a Sony fanboy. Just remember two things:
#1- I just said GEARS 2 is the BEST fucking playing and looking game of the year… better than any PS3 game. And there are some damn good PS3 games, I feel.
#2- FUCK YOU! I ain’t no fan boy but this mother fucking game looks like nothing you’ve ever played… and you can hold me to that when this thing hits and when they start showing gameplay footage. It looks like a painting come to life- it’s THAT good looking.
David”
I can surmise three things from David. 1. He likes Gears 2 a little. 2. God of War 3 is going to kick ass. 3. He likes to curse. Cock. Balls.
David Jaffe’s new studio is working on a Twisted Metal game. We all knew that. But we didn’t know exactly what the game would entail. Now we do. It’s Twisted Metal Head On: Extra Twisted for the PS2. Here’s the debut trailer for the game.
No only can you transfer and play PS1 classics from the PS3 to the PSP, but soon you’ll be able to rock out some downloadable PlayStation Network games on Sony’s handheld.
PSP – The Official Guidebook is reporting that Calling All Cars, the multiplayer hit from David Jaffe, will soon be playable on the PSP. No official word has come yet from Sony on whether this will be like the PS1 games now, where you just plug in your PSP to your PS3.
However they end up working this, if the trend continues, Sony will have a monster hit on their hands. Buying a game once and playing on both your PS3 and PSP is one of the better ideas I’ve heard this year.
David Jaffe recently broke off from Sony to form his own studio, Eat Sleep Play, in Salt Lake City. It was previously revealed their first title would be a port of Twisted Metal: Head On for the PS2.
Now, Jaffe has spilled the beans that Eat Sleep Play is working on 3 new titles that will be exclusive to the PS3.
“I can’t disclose themes,” Jaffe said, “but the new game is medium to hardcore in terms of game play and will focus heavily on multiplayer.”
“I am more excited about this game than anything I have ever worked on. I cannot wait to unveil it,” Jaffed added from Eat Sleep Play headquarters in Salt Lake City.
Giving Jaffe’s track record (read: God of War), I’d say these games might be pretty good. The first title is expected to ship in mid 2008, so I’m gonna guess we’ll hear something pretty soon about the game.
