We got a little bit of a better look at Prototype, an open world game that puts you smack in the middle of a war. After watching the video and seeing the potential the game has, I am very anxious to see this in it’s final form. The game screams action and really loos like a cross between Assassin’s Creed and GTA/Crackdown. Some of the art in the game really is dark and adds to the mood of the game as well, definitely a title to keep your eye on.
OK, so it hasn’t exactly been a year since Crackdown’s initial release (if we’re going to be exact, its been nine months), but still, just about all of the buzz and fervor have worn off, and people have moved on to other things. Yet for some reason, I found myself starting a new game and once again losing large chunks of time to its charms. But why? With all the new games that are swirling around right now: Halo 3, Bioshock, Beautiful Katamari, skate., The Orange Box, Ace Combat 6, Eternal Sonata (and so on and so forth), what compels a person to start up a game that they’ve already smacked around like an obnoxious teenager? Let’s discuss, yeah?
Well last night marked the end of the Halo 3 Beta at Midnight, so today I envision many returns to local game shops of Crackdown. Now everyone must wait, while Bungie crunches their stress data and tries to get the bugs out before we can all devour the new Halo 3 this September. Lets all hope that there aren’t any set backs and the game launches on time, Bungie will have their hands full for the next few months.
It seems there’s some major issues going on over at Microsoft and Bungie. Apparently, the servers won’t unlock the demo for those with Crackdown, so the majority of the beta users can’t download the file.
Yeah, I know, I posted three Halo 3 posts in a row, but it’s a big day in the Halo world, and there’s a lot of angry users out there right now.
Bungie is aware of the issue, and Frankie issued a statement:
With any luck this will be a short delay. People enetering the Beta through other methods - Friends and Family, Rule of Three and so on, are unaffected.
There’s some threads on the official Bungie forums stating that Xbox Support is telling users it will be a full 24 hours before the Halo 3 Beta will be available using Crackdown.
That’s some bravo sierra right there. You’d think that both Microsoft and Bungie would be ready for this?
If you haven’t ran to your Xbox 360 already to download the Halo 3 Beta, go get on it! The long awaited public beta starts today for those who have the specially marked copy of Crackdown (other beta users have been playing for an extra week).
I’m sure this will make the top of the list for most played games on Xbox Live.
Do yourself a favor… spend the $10 and get the new premium content for Crackdown. The new Keys to the City mode allows you do some crazy ass stuff. Like jump multiple miles into the sky. How cool is that?
There have been reports that the new downloadable content for Crackdown on the Xbox360 have been deleting saved games. Nevertheless, the game designers at Crackdown have devised a foolproof way to make sure that this does not happen.
Sign-in to Xbox Live
Start Crackdown and receive new Title Update (if you haven’t already)
Begin a Single PlayerCampaign game
Once loaded, press Start and choose “Quit”
Reboot Crackdown (soft reboot or hard reboot of console)
There you have it. If you have not already downloaded the very cool, very worth it content, follow these steps and enjoy another run through.
Earlier today we brought you news of the downloadable content for Crackdown, which is now available. Now, we have a trailer showing all the new gameplay elements. Looks like it might be worth the 800 MS Points for the extra content.
Crackdown will soon have new downloadable content available for the Xbox360 reports our friends at Computerandvideogames. Though the game was a blast to play through, there was not much left to do once all the gangs had been eliminated except hunt for random orbs so an achievement can be obtained. Nevertheless, Realtime Worlds has released all the details for the new DLC. First, ALL gangs can be reset. This is a major plus giving the game a reason to play through again with 5 new weapons which include: a new rocket launcher, a minigun, a harpoon, cloaking device, and proximity mine that will allow you to decimate all those that stand in your way. There will also be a new finishing melee move that is sure to boost those combat stats in no time. Perhaps the coolest thing is the new vehicles such as a Agency Buggy, Armored Vehicle, and a Pursuit Vehicle. Expect some new orbs as well as new challenges. Is this a ploy to sell more games while the Halo 3 beta is finished? Who knows? Either way, I will be dusting off my copy of Crackdown and giving this game a much deserved second play through.
You heard it right, TWO content packs. The good news: one is free. The bad news: the other is not.
Crackdown staff member “Agent G” posted on their official forums:
Regarding the downloadable content that is coming “soon”, there has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not it is going to be free or paid downloadable content. I just wanted to let you know that we are going to be providing two substantial buckets of content. One free and one premium. There are also some other good surprises in store when the content launches. It’s all good and you’ll have it “soon”. And by the way, there will be NO charge for that extra 100 gamerscore we owe you. Cheers.
So there you have it. No word if the new dune buggies will be free or not, but I can only hope they will be.
We're like Spaceballs... we're making Loot Ninja everything. Coming soon we'll have hats, shirts, hoodies, possibly banana hammocks if one Editor has his way...
