Little Big Planet Kratos Look

So after Matt has finished raving about Little Big Planet I came across this commercial for the game and have to say that the extra content is spot on. Kratos, Minotaur and Medusa never looked so good in sack form, unfortunately it can only be unlocked if you pre-order through Gamestop right now, but I would think it will become DLC after some time passes, we will try and get some details for you.

ROID - New Console?

Watch as the folks over at Level 5 from Japan try to confuse you? Is this a hoax or could there be a new console coming our way? I think it might just be anew commercial for a RoboSapien toy. THe trailer had me going up until the end where it switched to CGI and the console became a Transformer, maybe we will see him in the next movie? Maybe if my Wii transformed I would play with it more?

1984 Smurf Commercial

Do you remember the Smurfs? Well they were pretty popular back in the 80’s, actually they popular enough to get their own video game back on the Collecovision. Most people have forgotten about the Smurfs and their game, which is probably for the best, but you have to watch the commercial. There is a lot of comic genius in here and if you look close I think that is a young Joey Lawrence playing with his friends.

Smurf the spider! Smurf them all!

Sega Ads Banned

Seems that Sega has become a target of censorship lately on the heels of their Condemned 2 ads being banned for being too brutal for television. Apparantly a total of nine complaints were filed and three people said that the commercials were inappropriate for broadcast television. It is good to see that the network folded to the demands of the majority, those three people probably filed three complaints each to make the grand total of nine.

The ads appeared in post-9pm and post-11pm slots respectively. The longer, post-11pm version showed three punches from a first person perspective, with a hooded figure holding a brick aloft then bringing it down towards the camera.

The ASA concluded: ‘… the ads contained scenes of graphic and brutal violence which, although computer-generated, were realistic in appearance.

I think this is utterly ridiculous that in this day and age we can not watch animated violence on television. There are so many worse things to see, but a thirty second spot of Condemned 2 is ridiculous!? Two things if interest here as well are the fact that the game ads were set to air late night, which you would think would not give it any problem what so ever and the fact that Condemned 2 is an old title by now. The relevancy of the game is pretty low at this time since it has been at least 6 months since its release to the market and now people are complaining?

Uncle Gary is Nuts

Screw Point Break, Uncle Gary needs an Oscar or 2 for his role in the Siants Row 2 commercials. No one plays crazy like Gary can or perhaps he isn’t playing? Who cares, in any event it is hilarious to watch and listen to his crazy laugh at the end. Nice timing in the video when he talks about love and it shows someone getting tea-bagged. Classic!

Sackboy + Pop-It Trailer

The big machine that is Sony continues to pump advertising dollars at their newest franchise, Little Big Planet, now by incorporating an iPod style commercial showing SackBoy gyrating to some music. I like the overall look and the spoof on the existing Apple commercials. Many are hailing Little Big Planet to be a huge success and a possible Xbox killer, I am not sure I want to go that far but the game does look like a lot of fun.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed - Japanese Trailer

Only in Japan can a simple commercial for a game appear like the second coming of Jesus Christ. Here is a quick look at the new XBLA and PSN title, Bionic Commando: Rearmed. I only wish I knew what they were saying. Maybe its like that South Park episode and they are saying “Protect my balls, Let’s fighting Love!”

Spy Hunter Making of Vid

Here is an interesting video that shows the making of the Pontiac G8/Spy Hunter commercial. Watch as the creators work on their driving skills on a driving simulator and polish up the final product into the great looking video game inspired commercial. There is also a mystery cat in the ceiling?

Battletanks Commercial N64

These older commercials really make me smile, just goes to show you the different angles that were taken back then to help promote video games. The Snuggle bear gets chased down by tanks, loses an ear, loses and arm and then gets set on fire, priceless. The end is great where the cuddly cute bear ahas track marks on him and is coughing up stuffing, why can’t we make commercials like this anymore?

Mike Tyson’s Punch Out Commercial

Iron Mike in his original game pimping it out and looking a bit crazy there at the end. Man beating Tyson in that game was a serious achievment, too bad they got rid of him in the game.

Hit the jump for the entire cast of the original Punch Out, Soda Popinski FTW.
