Loot Ninja Comment Policy

censorship.jpg

I wanted to drop some wisdom on you all, as we’ve gotten a few emails lately with “why hasn’t my comment shown up?” We don’t like censorship here at Loot Ninja and we aren’t going to stop you from speaking your mind. However, there are a few simple rules.

Any comments that come through with racist material, blatant hate speech, or threats (we’ve received a couple death threats) won’t be published. Anything like that automatically goes into moderation. I’d say a good 95% of comments that go into moderation are approved. Even if you say we suck and you don’t agree with our opinions, that’s fine. We’re not going to stop you. We want to have open and candid discussions with everyone here, but we don’t want to start bringing in hate and racism. I don’t care if you curse in the comments, just don’t spit racial epitaphs.

Again, we’re not censoring anything. We’re not going in and deleting any comments that make it through our spam filter. Trust it, if it makes it through, it’s fine. We just want to keep the peace. We love you.

Loot Ninja – Now with More Threaded Comments

Servers

We made some back end changes here at Loot Ninja today. There’s a lot of plans that will be set into motion over the next month and the first piece of that plan is to bring you threaded comments.

You can now reply directly to someone instead of using @name or whatever you used before. We have it set to go 3 levels deep for the replies, so go ahead and tell people what you think of them.

More new features are coming soon, including some new stuff in the forums. And a former monthly thing around here will be making a triumphant return. Stay tuned!

Get Your Own Comment Icon at Loot Ninja!

Do you want to look cool in front of your friends? Then get your own comment icon and show your personality even more when writing that you hate n00bs. Loot Ninja supports Gravatars for our comment icons. All you have to go is head on over to the Gravatar website and sign up. Whatever icon you upload there will be used for all comments here at your favorite video game news site.

The good thing about Gravatars is that they work in many many places, not just here. By creating a Gravatar account, your comment icon will jull roll around throughout places you talk on the internet.

So, if you want to see something else instead of the default little person next to your name, fire up a Gravatar account and let’s see what you can come up with. Rock on with your bad selves.

Monthly Top Commentator Contest Going on Vacation

street-team.JPG

Our Monthly Top Commentator Contest is going to be taking a little vacation. Our prize closets have gone dry and we need some time to reload. So, for the next couple months, you won’t win anything for having the most comments at Loot Ninja.

Don’t let this distract you from commenting! We take care of our readers and the Top Commentator Contest will be making it’s return in full force before you know it.

There’s a few other contests that we’re working on logistically, so stay tuned for those coming up as well!

July Top Commentator Winner

Top Spin 3 Screen 2

August is here and I’m on vacation. Literally. I’m posting this for you while I’m away. But I can’t stay away long enough to tell you who won the July Top Commentator Contest. This month’s winner, scoring a copy of Top Spin 3 for the PS3, is nostars.

Congrats, nostars! Thanks to all our readers who hang out and comment here! Keep it up and we’ll make sure the prizes keep coming :)

June Top Commentator Winner

We announced previously that the June Top Commentator would win a copy of The Bourne Conspiracy for the console of their choice. It was a close race that came down to the wire, but June’s winner is EHT. Congrats!

We’ll be in touch via email to find out which version of the game you want and to get your address to ship it out.

Thanks to everyone who comments here at Loot Ninja. Keep it up! There’s some really big things coming in July and not just the Top Commentator Contest, so stay tuned…

June 2008 Top Commentator Prize

street-team.JPG

Sometimes we announce Monthly Top Commentator prizes early, sometimes we don’t. This month is in between. For the lucky person with the most comments on the site for June 2008, you’ll be getting a copy of The Bourne Conspiracy for the platform of your choice (PS3 or Xbox 360). That’s right, whichever console you want.

If you’re into Bourne, which most of us are, get commenting. Hand to hand combat FTW.

Thanks to everyone who continues to comment and keep the community here at Loot Ninja going strong! Like it is every month, we give out a prize to whoever has the most comments on the site. And the winner is… EHT. Congrats! We’ll be in touch via email about getting your prize out to you.

Keep up the comments everyone! We’ll be announcing the June prize shortly, so stay tuned :)

April Top Commentator Prize: DualShock 3

DualShock 3

Do you want some rumble in your PS3 but don’t want to spend $55 to get it? Then get commenting. This month, the top commentator at Loot Ninja will win a brand new DualShock 3 controller for the PS3.

If you’re not familiar with our Monthly Top Commentator Contest, it’s fairly simple. Whoever comments the most wins. There’s a different prize every month, sometimes announced ahead of time, sometimes not. You can track your progress in the sidebar where we list the top 5 commentators.

Stay tuned… another contest announcement coming in t-minus 2 hours :)

And this winner is… nostars. He won by a pretty big margin in March in our Top Commentator Contest.
