Circuit City Liquidating, Closing All Stores

If you have any gift cards for Circuit City, I’d start spending pretty quickly. As of Friday, all of the company’s store will be up for liquidation.

We’d previously reported that Circuit City was looking for a buyer and that liquidation was an option, but we found out late this past week that all stores will be closing and liquidation firms are moving in.

While this definitely sucks for many many people who will be losing jobs (I know quite a few of them), you will be able to snag some store remnants for cheap. Right now, sales aren’t that great, but give it a few weeks and prices will fall rapidly. Everything has to go, so go in there next month and try to get a cheap HDTV.

Today at Circuit City: 3200 Microsoft Points for $20

Want to get double your Microsoft Points for the same price? Well, today is your chance. Circuit City is having a deal where you save $20 on the purchase of any 2 Xbox Live accessories valued at $19.99 and up.

Too good to be true? Here’s the link to that section of the weekly ad, and here’s your link directly to the product on their online store.

The deal lasts all week, so make sure you get down there quick before they run out.

Xbox 360 Elite Demand Not That High?

Xbox 360 Elite Contents Large Image

I just took a trip around to all my local stores that sell video games. After a trip at 1:30pm to Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, EB Games, and Circuit City, I found that they ALL still have Elite systems in stock.

I know some of these stores got as little as 4 units, and they all have systems in stock. Is the demand not there? I would have expected the stores with the smaller quantities to at least sell out, but it doesn’t look that way.

A quick trip to Ebay shows systems selling for a premium over the retail value. Could my market just be an anomaly?

Let us know in the comments if you find Elite’s on the shelves.

Wii on Sale Nationally This Sunday

Joystiq is reporting on next week’s circulars that list Wii for sale at some stores. They have scans of the ads as well. Circuit City will have “limited quantities”, Best Buy will have a minimum 20 per store, and Target is advertising Wii-motes and Nunchucks, but not Wii’s. No idea if they’re have any systems.

So if you still haven’t found a Wii and are dying for one, go camp out at your local Best Buy or Circuit City in the freezing cold for your chance at the uber fun console.
