If you have played Call of Duty 5 you are aware of one of it’s more popular maps called Makin, this is the stage where there is a giant straw hut in the center of the board. I am sure many of you have thought how great it would be to get to the top of the hut and just camp your little heart away, don’t lie. Well here is what happens if you do get to the top of the hut, seems like the developers programmed in hot fiery death for you for trying to exploit the map. Enjoy and kudos to the devs for thinking ahead,
Activision hit the video game lottery when it released Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It was an updated version of its award winning WWII series with new weapons, a revamped multiplayer, a thrilling campaign, and great visuals. The game was an instant masterpiece and cemented the franchise for anticipated sequels. We now get the next installment, CoD: World at War, which takes us back to WWII again. Has Activision allowed history to repeat itself with another great title, or are we taking a huge step backward?
South Park takes on hard hitting up to date issues and makes them funny, but it looks like Call of Duty 5 has popped up on their radar screen and the kids of South Park are killing the Japanese and bringing the funny. I like how one of the kids complains about the Flak Jacket perk and the girl tells him that it isn’t a cheat if you rank up.
This brings back so many memories of playing Diablo, Counter Strike and Starcraft during my computer labs in college, you could look down the back aisles and see absolutely no one working on C++ but instead gaming away. Good memories.
I knew that Kiefer Sutherland was casting his voice to the new Call of Duty game but I have to admit that I was surprised to hear that Gary Oldman was in it also. So it looks like Call of Duty 5 will have Jack Bauer and Syrius Black, not a bad duo to have yelling during your gaming experience. I may get this game just to hear Kiefer yell at me during battles while blowing things up, watch as both actors put their all into these lines and really deliver some fierce dialogue.
I just want Gary Oldman to yell out “Bring Everyone!”. Name what movie that line is from for bonus points.
Activision did the unthinkable. They took on arguably the most anticipated video game in modern history and held the Xbox Live charts for weeks, even months. When Game of the Year awards came out, many writers gave the nod to Call of Duty 4, not Halo 3. Furthermore, CoD 4 was multi-platform and therefore available to a much wider audience. If there was one thing fanboys could agree on, it’s that Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat was an amazing game and the multiplayer experience we all hoped for. The question is, what’s next?
It was only a matter of time until we heard the official news on Call of Duty: World at War. Fans alike assumed the game would stay in the modern era. When the news broke that we would be traveling back in time to none other than World War II, many gamers as well as myself let out a collective sigh. How can they tease us with laser sighted carbines and attack choppers then drop us back to bolt action rifles and attack dogs?
The elusive Call Of Duty: World at War beta showed up in my email yesterday and like the otherĀ 40,000 or so gamers that received the beta codes, I ran out and downloaded it as soon as I could. After redeeming my code and downloading the 890 MB file, I was greeted to a welcome screen that stated the following:
Welcome! The Online Multiplayer Beta is a sneak peak at the Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer experience. This Beta contains a few early versions of the maps, modes, and features of the full game. have fun and we’ll see you online.

Call of Duty 5 World at War is under a lot if heat since it is trying to follow in the footsteps of a great title like COD4 Modern Warfare and after watching the trailer I think the heat is justified. Yes the trailer looks nice, but as I watched it all I could think about was when I played on my launch Xbox 360 Call of Duty 2. The look and feel are very similar to COD 2, which is a shame, I thought they would try to do more with the game, but instead it looks to be falling into a bad pattern of one good game followed by one crappy one. COD 2 good, COD 3 bad, COD 4 good, COD 5 bad.
I’ve taken virtual dumps on Call of Duty 5 in the past for going back to World War 2. We’ve been there and moved on with CoD4. But with the solid engine and added co-op gameplay, I might have to eat my words. World at War looks pretty solid. Check out this gameplay trailer from a co-op level called Subway. If you don’t know where the level is set, you’re dumb.
Anyone wo has played COD4 knows COD5 will take many of its good ideas and try to expand on them. The perks here are not as cool judging by the fact we have been transported back to the 19-fucking-40s, but nevertheless they are very similar. It is also hinted that players will have upgrade perks just like COD4, which again means we get another great game just in the most played out time period in gaming.
Recon Plane (3 Kills):
Kill three enemies without dying and you are given the ability to call in a recon plane to mark enemies temporarily on your radar map. The only enemies that won’t appear are ones using the Reconnaissance perk.
Artillery Strike (5 Kills):
Kill five enemies without dying and you are given the ability to call in an artillery strike. This is very similar to the Airstrike command in COD4, however, instead of a line of bombs going off, the area in which you select for the drop is completely obliterated in a long series of cannon fire.
Unleash the Dogs (7 Kills):
Kill seven enemies without dying and you enable the ability to call in attack dogs, which will sniff out any enemies on the map. Unlike COD4, attack dogs will find you regardless of where you hide, making it exceedingly difficult to avoid them. Furthermore, killing the attack dogs will only save you temporarily as the hounds will respawn if killed until their time/kill limit has expired.
Is this the best looking WWII game I have ever seen? Yes. Am I insanely disappointed that this is a WWII game? Absolutely. I can’t get excited to shoot weapons that are almost 70 years old. I’m looking forward to COD6.
