Sony Encourages Parties

Sony Party Pack 1

In case you were wondering if Sony was the shy, quiet type or the ones to get things rolling at the party, here’s your answer. I got a big box from them today labeled “Party Pack”, which quickly raised an eyebrow. To celebrate the launch of SingStar 90’s and Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz for the PS2, Sony is helping out with how to truly throw a rockin’ party.

I was amused to open the pack and find a SingStar 90’s and Buzz! labeled pizza box. Inside was a Buzz! t-shirt, movie candy, and popcorn, a Papa John’s gift card, and SingStar 90’s light-up shot glasses. Sitting next to the pizza box was an Instant-SingStar-In-A-Can. What exactly was inside? A feather boa and sunglasses. Just what I need to show how rockin’ I am.

Hit the jump for more pictures from this hilariously cool pack. I know this shot glasses will be put to good use with SingStar 90’s… already have had a few drunken nights with friends belting out Hold On by Wilson Phillips :)

THINK OF THE CHILDREN

Release Date: Mar 11th, 2008 Developer: Magenta Software Ltd MSRP: $29.99

I will say this for Sony: continuing support for old systems is something they do very well. When is the last time you’ve seen an XBOX game from Microsoft? Sony Computer Entertainment of America is releasing Buzz! Junior RoboJam for all the little children out there whose parents haven’t had a chance to get a next-gen system yet. Those sweethearts!!

RoboJam is another title in the Buzz! family that is geared towards a younger crowd. Essentially it’s a collection of minigames that incorporate the use of the standard Buzz! controllers (sold separately).

Hands-On Preview: Buzz Hollywood (PS2)

Buzz Hollywood

Buzz Hollywood is the latest in the popular Buzz quiz show series, which drunk pandas, myself, and a Sony PR rep got to play a round of at Sony Media Day. Due to my rain-man like ability to remember useless facts I easily took first place (this is not something I’m particularly proud of…). From what we saw, Buzz Hollywood should wind up being a very fun party game.

The game has over 5000 questions and over 100 clips and pictures to test your movie knowledge. Like previous Buzz games, you can customize your player a bit such as choosing your character, what they’re wearing, your buzzer sound, etc. There were 3 rounds in the game we played, the first being general trivia, where the first person who answers correctly gets the most points, the next fastest answer gets less, and so on. The second round was fastest fingers where you had to put 4 things in order (for example put the movies made by a director in chronological order). In the final round you choose a specific category to answer questions in which can range from a category as specific as “Julia Roberts” to something more general like “Disney”. If the person going before you gets a wrong answer their points will roll over to you if you answer your question correctly.
