Gears of War 2 Collectors Edition Steps it Up

Gears of War Lancer

Remember the sweet Master Chief helmet you got for $129.99 that you couldn’t wear or interact with at all?  The same one that was going for 60 bucks a few months later?  Gears of War 2 is giving you an actual Lancer, thats the chainsaw gun for you noobs, that has a pullable trigger and real chainsaw sounds.  They say life-size, but it’s probably much smaller than an actual gun. It seems that if they want people to shed more than twice the price for some extra content, they need to give them cool toys. I would have bought a Halo 3 Legendary if I got a Battle rifle or a life-sized Cortana blow up doll.  The Gears 2 bundle goes for $139.99

Two New PS3 Bundles Coming to Europe

GT5 Europe PS3 Bundle

If you read that title and hoped one of the bundles involved a little known game called Metal Gear Solid 4, you’ll be a bit disappointed.

The first pack brings you a 40GB PS3 with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (pictured above). This pack will be released March 29th for a cool €399. The second pack (pictured after the jump), gives a 40GB with three BluRay movies: Casino Royale, 300, and Spider-Man 3.

Decent packs if you’re into that sort of thing, but I think a Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle would sell a bit better. Just my two cents (or Euros, if you’re counting).

The joy of returning peripherals, shame on RockBand

RockBand
Well with the excitement of RockBand upon us all, many of those good boys and girls that waited so eagerly to open their bundles of RockBand made a rather rude discovery. Their peripherals were broken, this could range from a nonfunctional guitar, broken whammy bar, a strum bar that had a mind of it’s own or a wonky microphone that doesn’t register correctly. All in all it is a pretty upsetting discovery once you get everything unpacked and decide to sit down and get some gaming in, especially for a game that costs $170.

Well the good news is that EA/Harmonix is aware of the problems and actually has a website dedicated to rectifying the issues. Pretty much you log in and set up an EA account and then let them know, which peripheral is FUBAR. After that it will ask for your shipping info and give you an option of them sending a new peripheral out via two day air delivery and charging you $125 fee, to make sure that you send your broken one back, or you can go the none charging route and just request a prepaid box and wait for that to arrive. Being impatient and pretty cheesed about my wireless guitar playing like an old shoe, I chose the 2 day option.

New Xbox 360 Bundles Coming

Forza Shot

Microsoft sent out a press release today to let us know that new Xbox 360 bundles are coming for the Holiday season. Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance will be packed in with all Pro and Elite consoles. Sorry Core buyers, no love for you. And no love for the Halo 3 Special Edition either.

This is a pretty good bundle for those looking to pick up a 360 (or replace a broken one).

New Holiday Bundles Leaked for Xbox 360

The Xbox Pro and Elite 360 bundle has been discovered by kotaku recently.  The bundle seems to have 2  “free” games which appear to be Forza Motorsport and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.  The bundle will also include all of the accessories that an pro/elite should have. The price on these is not yet known, but should be discounted for it would not make much sense to charge full price for games that could very well sell on their own.
