After completing the previous 4 Fallout expansions (Operation Anchoarge, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Point Lookout), I decided that I may as well pick up Mothership Zeta since it is rumored to be the final Fallout DLC before the next game comes out next year.
After playing for about an hour or two, the Health Stations (used instead of Stimpacks) didn’t work when my character ran through them. I thought that maybe this particular station was broken so I ignored it and progressed to the next one. However, when that station didn’t work either, I decided that reloading the game to an earlier point should fix the problem.
The great online community that wasn’t and then was and then wasn’t and now might be has just turned the voices in your head back on. For a few days, Voice Chat was causing massive bugs within PS Home and it had to be shut down while all the kinks got worked out. It seems as if… they fixed… the glitch.
PlayStation Home update 1.05 is scheduled to be released on December 22. With this new update, users will be able to use the voice chat within their personal space and clubhouses to communicate and share with friends online.
By clicking on their PlayStation Home icon on the PlayStation Network column of XMB, users will be able to update PlayStation Home to 1.05. Users who are online with PlayStation Home will need to log-off and click on PlayStation Home icon.
So get back on to hitting on chicks who turn out to be dudes or cops. I’m Chris Haaaaaanson. Have a seat.
Based on our recent poll, it looks like more people than we thought are having issues with their copy of Grand Theft Auto IV. As of press time, 63% of you say you’re not having any issues at all with the game. That leaves the other 37% out in the cold until Rockstar comes up with a solid fix.
With 2,420 people voting, having 37% with issues is a lot. I’ve personally had one major lockup on the PS3 where I had to shut the system off at the switch in the back, otherwise it’s been fine. But I know a few people that can’t get past the opening cinematic. It’s a shame really.
Again, thanks to everyone who participated in the poll! We’re sending these results over to Rockstar to see if it can’t get thinks moving faster.
Want to fix the freezing issues that are plaguing the PS3 version of GTA IV? Sorry Xbox 360 owners, no fix for you yet. And I don’t know how much I’d call this a fix. Here’s the 12 step process, courtesy of Gamespot:
Delete the game’s install data
Delete the game’s save files
Disable your Internet connectivity for the PS3
Disable the console’s information board
Disable Media Server functionality
Delete all of the system’s Internet cache
Turn off the PS3 screen saver
Once this has been done, manually restart you PS3 by holding down the power button for 5 seconds it will beep once and then shut down. Release the power button and re-press it and hold for about 5 seconds. The system will then boot and reset all display settings. You will be prompted to reset your display settings to how you require them
Once restarted please try the game again, you will be prompted to reinstall.
Turn off the game’s auto-save. Press Start, Game, and locate the Auto-save option. Turn this off.
Turn off the game’s flicker filter. Press Start, Display and locate the Flicker Filter option. Turn this off.
Turn off the controller vibration feature. Press Start, Controls and locate the vibration option. Turn this off.
So let me get this straight, after I basically disable everything on the PS3, I have to kill auto saves and rumble? Yeah, this is ridiculous. I wouldn’t call this a “fix”. Rockstar needs to get on their ass and get this fixed ASAP.
The PAL edition of Super Paper Mario, which was heavily delayed from the US version, has a disturbingly major bug: the game will crash at a certain point, forcing a system restart. CVG got some information on Nintendo for a work-around:
“At the start of Chapter 2-2, you will come across a character called Mimi. She will tell you to go to the farthest room on the first floor to meet a character called Merlee. Enter that room and press the green switch. A trap will be triggered, and a spiked ceiling will descend upon Mario. Before the ceiling reaches him, flip into 3D and jump on it to find a key.
“If you pick up the key, you won’t run into any problems. Use it to open the locked door to Mimi’s right. However, if you talk to Mimi without picking up the key, the game will freeze. You will then have to turn off your Wii console and start again from your last save point.”
Basically, don’t mess up and miss the key. Nintendo is going to issue a replacement program for the discs, with information expected in the next week or so. Sorry PAL owners, that six month wait doesn’t seem to have been worth it.
