2K dropped off a couple new screens for BioShock on the PS3 via PlayStation.Blog. The game looks to be running just about the same as the 360 version.
The team at 2K Marin still won’t let out what extras the PS3 version is getting, we just know it’s something. Maybe some new tonics and plasmids? I highly doubt it’ll be anything as huge as multiplayer and I doubt new levels would work because of throwing off the story. We’ll see what happens.

The exclusive list of Xbox 360 titles is growing shorter by the day. First Mass Effect now Bioshock. This is both an attribute and detribute to MS’s console. It means that some great games have been coming out and MS has secured some great talent. The bad news is that gamers won’t have to buy the 360 just to play Bioshock or Mass Effect. With the amount of money these two titles made, can you really blame anyone for them going to multi?
To make it even more official, a representative for 2K confirmed the title to IGN. We should see the PS3 version of BioShock this Holiday season.

I can’t say I did not see this coming. The surprise hit of 2007 is now getting the inevitable movie treatment. The director, Gore Verbinski, best known for The Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy has signed on for the project. The writer who is in talks for the film, John Logan, wrote Gladiator and The Aviator. Top talent indeed. Let’s hope that they get some top talent to act and don’t ruin this story. Uwe Boll is under pain of death for going near the set. Here is the press release:

If we’re to believe job postings at 2K Marin, BioShock 2 might surface on the PS3. There are currently five jobs posted for the game, but the one that draws our attention is the Senior Designer Position.
According the job description, PlayStation 3 experience is required to be a Senior Designer on BioShock 2, which leads many to believe this will be a multi platform title. I hope it does end going that way. The more people that can play BioShock, the better.
The job postings also indicate we’ll be making a return trip to Rapture in the sequel, further lending creditability to the game being a prequel. We’ll see what happens as more details on the game get announced. We’ve got over a year to wait, anyway.
Thanks to Fragloser for the tip!

Your fix for Big Daddies will be fed in the fourth quarter of 2009 as Take 2 confirmed BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin.
I’m excited for a sequel, but a little concerned with the move in studios. The first BioShock title was developed by 2K Boston and 2K Australia. With Ken Levine working on new IP, the title is being moved over to 2K Marin. Don’t fret, as Levine will be offering limited guidance on the project.
Whatever the case, more BioShock is great for everyone. No word on what platforms the game will be released on nor where in the storyline the game will take place. I, for one, would love to see a game going about the fall of Rapture. We’ll keep you posted as more details are released.
Does anyone out there buy these games? Taz and I have Blackberrys, drunk pandas has an iPhone, and not one of us has ever bought a mobile phone game. Don’t they have PSP and DS for that. Needless to say, you can experience Rapture on the go with Bioshock: The Mobile game. Here is an official press release we just received:
Sean Malatesta, CEO, IG Fun said, “We’re trying to do great things and BioShock on mobile promises to offer a whole new gaming experience and unmatched excitement amongst mobile gamers the world over. BioShock is a special game in its genre; it brings an element of conflicting morals which has an impact on the storyline, and, among other things, on the difficulty of the game itself.”
I think I tried Splinter Cell as a demo once, and let me tell you, it was not the same. They are basically small elements of a great game in pre-SNES gen basically. People will buy this because of just how good Bioshock was. Maybe we will get a free copy and give it away. I have to sit down.

This could be speculation, but Bioshock could be coming to PS3. Why is this? Well, 2K Boston, the dev team best known for creating Bioshock, is actively seeking developers for the PS3. Now, this obviously means that they have in the works or are planning a game release for the PS3. Is it Bioshock or Bioshock 2 or possibly neither? Who knows? With the obvious success of Bioshock, it would seem reasonable to assume that it might be a cross platform release. Here is a quote from 2K Boston themselves:
“PS3 and production experience using Python or Ruby will be highly regarded” for the Tools Programmer position. “Experience with PS3 development is highly desirable.” for the Senior Console Programmer position. “PlayStation3 experience highly desirable” for the Programmer position.”
Wait and see we shall.

Just a quick quip here about a info release on the storyline for Bioshock 2. Apparently its going to be a prequel! An unknown source with 2K games has said that Bioshock 2 is now in Pre-production phase with a release around summer 2009. I think that witnessing the detailed events surrounding the collapse of the infamous underwater utopia is an interesting premise. If its done right of course.
So, what do you think everybody? Let us know what you would like to see in the final product. You never know who’s reading.
Durka.

Ok folks, things have slowed down in my life finally. Wedding is over, Holidays and traveling are over, so it’s time to buckle down and finish some games. I’m looking to play through Halo 3 and Gears of War, both co-op, on the Xbox 360 (once Live is working properly). Both on Normal, just want to play through. Here’s my problem: my game saves somehow got corrupted when I transferred everything to my new Xbox 360 Elite after the last one broke, so we’re starting from the beginning.
If you have the skills and the time, let me know. I’d like to play a few hours a day and rock through both of them within the next 2 weeks. I’m also trying to go through BioShock and Ratchet and Clank Future, but that’s on my own. Damn Rock Band is sucking up a ton of time, but I want to get back to finishing the games I’ve already started.
Some new Bioshock content went live today on Xbox Live. There are 6 videos, all free and in HD that will show you the locations of all the audio diaries located throughout Rapture. Just in case you played the game and did not listen to these, well, they are super creepy and often add good plot details. Again, free. Free.
