We told you we would get some thoughts form the current Guinness World Record holder for fastest time through the first 5 stages of Tapper and we deliver. Look into the mind of man consumed by everything Tapper related.
Loot Ninja: Tell us a bit about yourself and how long you have been gaming.
Michael P.: I’m 25, and I’m from the middle of nowhere in western PA. I moved to NYC about 7 months ago, and I’m currently a graphic designer at a web marketing company in Brooklyn. I’m still trying to figure out what I really want to do though. I’ve been gaming for about as long as I can remember. Although my dad has long since stopped gaming, he is the one that got me started with ColecoVision. I can remember playing that obsessively until around 1990 when we got an NES. My favorite games for Coleco are Jumpman Junior, The Heist, Oil’s Well and Squish’em Sam. After SNES, I stopped playing the new ones so much. Every once in awhile though, I get really into a new game. I’m really into drumming in Rock Band right now. I love Mario Kart 64, and my favorite game ever might be Amplitude. I also like the color blue.

We had brought you coverage of the event, but here are the official event times and records for all to see. Five were attempted and only two were broken.
Special congratulations to both Daniel and Michael on their two new Guinness World Records! We hope to have an interview with the new Guinness World Record holder for Tapper very shortly, so stay tuned for that.
In celebration of the release of the inaugural Guinness World Records™: Gamer’s Edition 2008 book, Guinness World Records hosted a record-breaking event at Barcade in Brooklyn, NY. With gamers competing on any one of five classic arcade games, two new records were actually set by New York’s finest and fastest gamers.
First, Daniel Dujinc manuevered Pac Man’s significant other through tight turns and giddy ghosts to grab the Guinness World Record for Fastest Time to Beat Five Board on Ms. Pac Man with a time of 2′05″80. Then, not to be outdone, Michael Przybocki poured pints at blistering speeds to take the Guinness World Record for Fastest Time to Beat Five Boards on Tapper with a time of 1′20″43.

Ok let me say that I had my doubts about Barcade, but I was pleasantly surprised. In case you didn’t figure out the name it’s a Bar + an Arcade, which equals a Barcade. Pretty straight forward, mix in alcohol with old school arcade games and you have a recipe for good times.
The place is a pretty large bar in the middle of Williamsburgh, Brooklyn that caters well to having 20 plus old school arcade games littering it’s walls. The games are in working condition and still operate on quarters. You have such classics like Contra, 1943, Q-Bert, Donkey Kong, Tapper, Out Run, Centipede, Ms. Pac Man, Frogger, Dig Dug, Rampage, Zaxxon, Spy Hunter, Tetris, Asteroids, Ghosts and Goblins and a few more I can’t remember.
Walking in here made me feel almost like a kid again, especially seeing all of those arcade cabinets in working condition taking quarters, pretty great feeling. Just like being a kid again except now I can have a beer as well. The mood in the bar is great especially once it starts to fill up and more people start playing games and jawing at each other.
