Bad Company Conquest Mode Impressions

Bad Company
If you were not aware EA released a new mode for Battlefield Bad Company called Conquest, which was released because many gamers were anxiously waiting for it. If you have an Xbox 360 and thought that the update that popped up automatically just recently gave you Conquest mode you are dead wrong as I was, you actually need to download Conquest mode from the marketplace. This was a bit annoying, but even worse is the fact that unless you specifically choose to play Conquest from the menus you will continue to get the old mode over and over.

Conquest mode boils down to a game of CTF mixed with King of the Hill, there are random flags scattered through out the maps that you and your squad need to capture and hold to win. The flags that have not been captured you can run up and sit next to it for 15-20 seconds to raise your country flag and capture it and if you find an enemy captured flag you need to bring their flag down and raise your own, which will take a bit longer. The new mode is nice to mix up the monotony of just playing 1 mode over and over, but it needs to be incorporated into the regular Quick Match settings and would have been nice if it would have installed without having to go to the marketplace seeing as the actual download isn’t very large and the PS3 version updates automatically.

Bad Company Conquest Mode Coming August 7th

Some more reason for you to play Battlefield: Bad Company online. Coming August 7th, Conquest mode is finally making it’s debut.

Made famous by Battlefield 1942™, Conquest mode pits players against each other in a fast paced battle to eliminate the opposing team’s tickets. Players deplete their opponent’s tickets by one point per kill and can cause their opponent’s tickets to spiral downwards by capturing control points. Four maps that are currently available for online play in Gold Rush mode will be available to conquer with Conquest mode.

Considering only four maps are available, I’d venture a guess that more are coming. Whether or not they cost money, I couldn’t say. I bet you can guess, though.

Review: Battlefield: Bad Company (Xbox 360)

Battlefield Bad Company Logo

Battlefield: Bad Company from EA/Dice gives you the opportunity to blow up buildings, vehicles, and people in a variety of different ways. Experience huge open field battles either on foot or in a tank, whichever you prefer, but it’s up to you and your squad to bring victory.

Bad Company has a single player campaign that revolves around Private Preston Marlowe and his new band of misfits, the B Company. B Company are the unwanted soldiers that no one would remember if they died. As part of this crew, you are thrown into Russian enemy territory and realize after some time that the Army has left you behind. In doing so, you decide to go off on your own and collect some gold that is scattered around the different enemy camps.

Battlefield: Bad Company Impressions

Battlefield Bad Company Logo

Battlefield Bad Company has a very steep learning curve and I do recommend people playing the single player first to get a hang of the different controls. This version of Battlefield tries hard to put a more personal touch to the game by making you play as a main character during the single player campaign. The game tries to bring in some one liner jokes here and there to keep things light-hearted in between the killing and destruction. One of the most impressive things in this game is the ability to level buildings in order to get to objectives. You can use grenades or rocket launchers to blow a hole in the side of a building and get to an enemy.

There are a good number of vehicles that can be used ranging from a jeep and a tank all the way to boats and helicopters. One complaint I do have about the game is the multiplayer mode. That’s right, it only has one mode so far. It is fun but I can see it getting old after a while. The team based play is pretty fun and the different classes of characters each have their pluses and minuses. So far I have focused on the demolition and support characters. The demolition character gets a rocket launcher and a shotgun while the support character can drop med-kits for teammates.

The game has a fairly robust system to track all of your different achievements in the game as well as your rank as you kill more enemies and do different things during multiplayer like get objectives. Bad Company so far has some great aspects to it, but I can see a big minus on the multiplayer side because of the lack of modes and options. Stay tuned for a full review of this bad boy real soon.

Battlefield: Bad Company Launch Trailer

The game with the funniest trailers to date is finally out in stores. We picked up our copies yesterday, so expect a review very soon. Here’s the game’s launch trailer, which shows a bit of old and a bit of new. Cool gameplay with blowing stuff up and it’s definitely got some great funny one-liners in there.

Battlefield: Bad Company - Snake Eyes

The zingers keep coming from the boys in EA’s Bad Company. Now, they take on the Metal Gear Solid people. Lofting a an explosive grenade round into a barrel FTW.

Battlefield: Bad Company - Bad World

Remember the commercial for Gears of War to that creepy song from the end of Donnie Darko. The song is called, Mad World and was a Tears for Fears song covered by Gary Jules. This is one of the songs that girls play after they sleep with a guy on the first date and he has not called back. Watch this as a Bad Company soldier gets caught up in the moment. I have to say I like games taking shots at each other. First Saints Row, now this

Battlefield: Bad Company - Defender Gameplay

This is the game type that you get to play in the demo. Attacking is a helluva lot more fun and almost always results in a win. There are plenty of vehicles scattered about and there is always a race to get to the Howitzer artillery cannon which makes for easy kills and a good way to rack up points. Your own players will kill you to get inside, which is annoying. Hopefully they find a way around that.

Battlefield: Bad Company Demo Impressions

Battlefield Bad Company

The folks over at EA sent Loot Ninja an early download token for their latest multiplayer shooter. With FPS’s already flooding the market, Battlefield will have to show gamers something special to pull them away from COD4. In Bad Company, they did just that. This game is fun as hell to play. Imagine a cross behind Warhawk and Call of Duty 4, but with the originality that made the Battlefield series so popular.

If you like vehicles then this is a must have. Although you can choose to run around on foot, the game’s beauty really lies inside the vast amount of vehicular punishment you can dole out. A nice variety of tanks, APCs, Humvees, Patrol Boats, Helicopters and even gun emplacements and artillery batteries, the game lets you do almost whatever you want. There is a nice balance between the vehicles also. A support troop can easily drop a tank dead in its tracks with some well place RPG shots. Helicopters can be shot down with a gun emplacement.

The game mode that is playable in the demo is called Attack and Defend. The defenders have 6 gold crates that must be guarded. They can be destroyed via weapons fire, which takes some time, or a charge can be placed by anyone. After a minute or so countdown, the crate is destroyed. There are 3 pairs of crates and each pair destroyed yields a new spawn point for the attackers. The attackers have a health bar and every new spawn decreases it ever so slightly. When all 3 pairs are destroyed or the number of spawns is up, the game is over. Playing as the attackers is much more fun and almost always wins.

There are your usual varied weapons classes and additional secondary weapons and upgrades can be unlocked by ranking up in the ranked matches. The game also promises to keep the unlockables attained in the demo in the full version. When this goes live in a few days, you should download the 1.5 GB demo.
