Seems EA dropped the ball somehow with the release of the free Army of Two Map Pack. If you live in North America, you can get the maps today for 360, but not PS3. If you live in Europe, you can get the maps today for PS3 but not 360.
Come on people, what the hell. You announce some free maps, you put out some nice trailers, and now you have a delay that’s more confusing than quantum physics? Why do different systems get it at different times in different locations? You think this would have been worked out by now.
Either way, I don’t think people will be jumping at putting their Army of Two disc back in the system to stop playing GTA or Call of Duty 4. We’ll see though…
Are you playing Army of Two? I think most people have moved on to bigger and better things, but some of you still might be co-oping your way to greatness. According to Unscripted 360, EA Montreal will be bringing a pair of campaign maps our way for the cool price of nothing.
Free maps is always a plus and I think will be received well. It might even pull gamers back from GTA4 or Call of Duty for some more gold coated guns. You know you want that bling.
As of April 1st, yes April Fool’s Day, you can expect a new Army of Two demo to wet your appetite. If you haven’t tried the game out yet and didn’t want to take my word for it that the game is fun, check out the demo and see for yourself. You will get to play the training stage and the first board, not bad. We can also look forward to some new maps and a new mode as DLC coming soon from our friends at EA.
Hit the jump for the official press release:
People all over the world have already joined the army of two…now is your chance to get in on the action.
On April 1st anyone who has not yet played ARMY OF TWO(tm) can team up to create the deadliest two-man military outfit a government can buy. In this free online demo, two people can play exciting co-op missions exclusively on Xbox LIVE(tm) Marketplace. In the demo, two players complete an intensive co-op training session before they are dropped into Somalia where they must work together to take out the local warlord.
Players engage in two-man tactics and boost their Aggro level to become the ultimate combat force that no enemy can withstand. ARMY OF TWO gameplay focuses on two-man missions, two-man strategies, two-man tactics and a two-man advantage to bring a new and groundbreaking gaming experience to players worldwide, online and offline. It captivates gamers with a politically charged storyline, centering on the impact and ethical issues of Private Military Corporations.
We had a chance to speak with Matt Turner, Assistant Producer on Army of Two about all things related to EA’s newest coop shooter. From how they came up with the coop concepts to the game’s multiplayer aspects, check out everything we discussed.
[Loot Ninja] This game glorifies the challenging and sheer fun factor of co-op campaign play. Will these missions be strictly run and gun or will the two players have to work as the ultimate team in order to achieve their objective?
[Matt Turner] Rambo’s are not welcome in AO2! It’s really a tactical shooter and the players must use the aggro system to progress through the levels. If you try to run and gun you are going to pay the price…with death! We really wanted to emphasize the coop feel of the game to the point where it becomes a necessity and I think we achieved that.
Army of Two is a great co-op game from EA that you can pick up with a friend and play either split screen or online. The game tries to push the envelope in the genre by really making the two characters interact with each other in order to finish objectives. The addition of a partner is vital to the gameplay, not like just having more marines in Halo 3 or an extra friend to help you finish Gears of War. Army of Two does a lot of things right and provides a full and unique experience. Read More »
Army of Two is coming soon. Unfortunately, it’ll ship without tampons for field wounds. I guess that crossed the line. Yeah, anyway. Here’s the opening cinematic to EA’s new co-op masterpiece.
The Iraq war is a pretty sensitive topic for many people. Having a video game set in this current hot zone is pretty controversial, but EA looks ready for whatever may come their way with Army of Two.
The original Army of Two were my testes. The right, Jake Westphal, the left, Dr. Kenneth Noisewater. Apparently, its a new co-op oriented shooter that looks to be a ton of fun, especially for those who prefer co-op to single player such as myself. Usually your NPC counterpart has a severe learning disability.
Army of Two looks very encouraging and no matter what I have heard about the controls being a bit wonky I want to check this EA title out. How can someone get tired of dragging your buddy around a field while he shoots his machine gun? Or using your buddy as cover while you shoot over his shoulder? This game focuses on coop play so if you don’t have a friend that wants to play this with you yet, go find one now!
We're like Spaceballs... we're making Loot Ninja everything. Coming soon we'll have hats, shirts, hoodies, possibly banana hammocks if one Editor has his way...
Check out the shirt prototypes here and the hats here
