Blacksite Area 51 gets XBL Demo

Area 51Midway today announced that a new Xbox Live BlackSite: Area 51 demo is available today. The demo highlights two levels from the game’s single-player campaign, taking gamers through the Rachel, NV town square and courthouse, and placing players in the gunner’s seat during a helicopter escort mission through the desert canyons of Nevada. This is an interesting game, but from the previous demo I played I was not very impressed, I am hoping htis demo is more polished and shows off more of the game faetures.

BlackSite: Area 51 Demo - Xbox 360

Blacksite area 51I just had a chance to play around with the demo for BlackSite: Area 51 on the Xbox 360 and I have to say that I was not very impressed. It looks like any basic shooter with some aliens in the mix and some marines running and gunning. Graphically it was not jaw dropping and game play wise was just middle of the road. As far as the demo went it showed me nothing that made me want to run out and grab this game. I will stay tuned for more on this one.

Area 51: Blacksite Demo Impressions

area-51.jpgWhen I first heard of another FPS where you mindlessly blast away at aliens, especially set at Area 51, I was not that enthused.  It seemed like I was about to fight my way through yet another ridicoulous story where visitors from above manage to incapacitate all human resistance, but one man can take them down.  Though the demo did not give up much plot wise, the gameplay was a bit refreshing.  The game was pseudo squad based; some commands could be given, but nothing to the extent of GRAW or RB6.  It seemed that the framerate dropped when in zoom mode for shooting enemies.  Speaking of enemies, these looked great and seemed to take a lot of punishment before going down.  This could be good or bad, depending how much future foes can take.  The graphics were very good with the level detail seemed intricate and well colored.  The voices also seemed on point.  The demo was very short and can be played through in less than 5 minutes.  All in all, the game showed much promise, but the demo did not give enough to constitute making me mark my calendar.  With the lineup of games scheduled to release this fall, this game must do something great to move some units.
