BioShock 2 Won’t Have Local Multiplayer

I know quite a few people who will be upset by this news. On a developer call yesterday, 2K Marin revealed that BioShock 2 will not have local multiplayer options or system link. Everything will be online only. It’s a shame.

Local multiplayer seems to be going away this generation, which is a pity. I still love getting together with friends to play in the same room. Fighting games and the co-op revolution are helping, but on the competitive side, the outlook isn’t very bright. Some of the biggest multiplayer games the past few years have skipped this ability.

While online is a huge aspect for games, it’s sad to see so many developers neglecting what really started the whole multiplayer gaming revolution: punching your friend for killing you while playing on your couch.

man. that really grinds my gears. the sad thing is that it really doesn't take much more for the developers to add it to the game.

Ya this is a big bummer. Why do they decide to shit on those that actually have friends that can come over to play? Why must we all stay in our seperate houses and only talk through media?

Yeah I have noticed this a lot lately. I wish more games could learn from how halo has there online setup. You can play online with guests splitscreen or you can play local up to four ppl. Its lacking nowadays with all the online games.

  4. My girlfriend and I play a ton of video games together. I'm not such a big fan of Bioshock to begin with, but to remove co-op has basically sealed the deal that I won't be playing this one.
