If you are unaware of the Tiger Woods saga that has erupted ever since the best golfer on the planet backed into a fire hydrant, then turn on the Google machine. Spoiler alert: he has been fucking around on his wife for years and he got caught. Now all of his sponsors are running for the hills, except for a few. Nike has not budged. Tiger would have to go OJ Simpson on someone’s ass to lose that. AT&T, Tag Heuer, even Gatorade have or are in the process of pulling Tiger off of their products. Why? He fucked around on his wife. Technically it is a crime, but is it worth losing sponsors over?
Cheating on your wife is bad. Whether it happens on a regular basis at an alarming rate is immaterial. It is just not what good people do. However, does Tiger’s infidelities mean I am less likely to buy a product with his name on it? Well, that is where it gets tricky. When it comes to things like watches, or a car, or even Gatorade, I would have purchased said item whether Tiger had his face stamped across the billboard or not. Chances are using his likeness made me aware of the product, but that ship has sailed. Now, when it comes to his video game, which is the same sports standard as Madden, should EA just drop Tiger’s name off of it?
Well, they did not. For once, I agree with EA. Tiger was an integral part of making EA’s golf games not suck balls. He helped design the game in many aspects and the game would be a shell of itself without him. I believe that Tiger Woods is much more important to EA golf games than Madden is to NFL games at this point. Where can you find Madden in Madden NFL 10? The cover and in the opening Madden IQ alert that you skip because it is useless. That is it. No announcing anymore. The ‘Ask Madden’ feature is again pointless and is only relevant in namesake. If you pull Tiger Woods out of Tiger Woods Golf, the game is just Golf. It will be devastating.

Good for EA for showing some balls here. I’m sure some of the reasons, if not most, are purely financial. Yet, no one had any qualms using his name to sell your shit and now that he is in some deep shit of his own, you tuck tail and run. Nutless. Purely nutless. Yes he banged porn stars, waitresses, and bar skanks. It is yet to be seen whether his private life will affect his golf game, but it has certainly affected his marketability in a negative fashion. At least we know Tiger Woods 2011 won’t have Phil Mickelson’s bitch tits on the cover because EA has the nutsac to stay with their people when things sometimes don’t go as planned.

I don't think EA could really switch their affiliation to another golfer and still have the same product recognition. Phil Mickelson Golf wouldn't sell as many copies.
It's not like he cheated on his golf game, he cheated on his wife. That's between the two of them. He is still the best golfer, just a bad husband. EA did okay on this one.
The author of this article really sucked EA's balls dry on this one.
Maybe EA realized that 99% of this games customer base is men, and men really dont give a shit about Tiger dippin his nerd cock in a ton of box.
Great. Let me get this down. 100 million… Oh, wait! I got a better idea. Instead of a hundred million, how about I send you a hobo's dick cheese? Then, you kill him. Do your thing, skin the fucking bastard. Go to town, man. Go to town! In the mean time and as usual, go fuck yourself.
And EA has been through plenty of scandal on their own, so why not support another greedy brand. One who is seen as a role model no less.
“Technically it is a crime, but is it worth losing sponsors over?”
And it’s the least of my concerns personally but Tiger is especially worse because of his refusal to speak up of an even greater crime that the sponsors he endorses commit.
But like I said, if EA has been known for taking advantage of their employees, who cares if Tiger’s sponsors take advantage of poor children in third world countries.
While we’re at it, why not put cheaters on the cover of games too.
Steve Kohlbecker, you are a tool.
"He fucked around on his wife. Technically it is a crime"
No, it's not a crime.
@J.-F.
Adultery is a crime in several states. So is sodomy. So is suicide. These are usually not enforced because often the injured party does not press charges, but cheating on one's spouse is not legal.
@fierce scuba
usually the ones who don't cheat are the ones who had a full filling teen adolescent years to young adult.
the ones who got all the fucking, orgies, parties, clubs, drinking, drug parties…are the ones who usually have a good marriage since they all got it out their system.
But you sound angry not at tiger but at yourself for not getting much pussy as you wanted. its not too late go out and get some and dont bring your self hatred on others who are living their dreams lives while you are living your nightmare.
@ GURU
Mr. Guru, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
EA made a business decision, plain and simple. It is to their benefit (and profit margin) to keep TW around to sell their product over the long-term. Full stop, end of discussion. The reward far outweighs the risk here.
Tiger Woods Fucked his shit up. He made a big mistake and he's paying for it. The man's family is ruined, his career is swirling down the crapper. At least let him keep the game. Everyone enjoyed it. The game doesn't teach people how to cheat on eachother so no harm no foul.
On a side note. I'm tired of seeing these companies dropping people for personal problems. Like when someone(who is a super ultra mega douche) took pictures of Michael Phelps hitting the bong and sold it to the media. Sponsors dropped Michael Phelps like he won a baby shaking competition
