Review: Labyrinth 2 (iPhone)

Labyrinth 2 iPhone Screen 1

I still have that old wooden box labyrinth with the knobs on the sides from when I was a kid sitting at my parents’ house. I’d play with that for hours, trying to get through the maze faster and faster. These days, digital implementations mean less size, more dynamic puzzles, and all kinds of fun. Labyrinth 2 from Illusion Labs does an amazing job of recreating that experience.

After you go through the game’s tutorial mode, you’re off and running. The iPhone’s tilt controls suit this game perfectly and Illusion Labs hit the physics right on the head. The steel ball rolls exactly as you would expect with proper momentum and speed. You can calibrate the controls at any time by pausing the game, so if you’re laying in bed or hunched over on the subway, you can rest assured that you’ll have the optimum gaming experience. To go along with the numerous in-game levels, you can create your own level sets and share them with the world. Don’t feel like being creative? Head out and download any of the available levels created by other users. The amount of content you get here is almost endless.

I have nothing bad to say about Labyrinth 2. The game is an absolute blast. This is the perfect example of how to use the iPhone’s accelerometer. Labyrinth 2 is worth every penny of its $4.99 asking price. Don’t hesitate. Buy now.
