Electronic Arts sits on a number of awesome franchises (including Battlefront 3, you bastards) but none impressed me more than last year’s Dead Space. I mean, a brand new IP in a year predominantly, erm, dominated by sequels, Dead Space stood as an example of near flawless game design and a testament to what Visceral Studios is capable of.
I found pretty much every element of Dead Space to my liking – from the immersive, integrated HUD, to the combat, right up to the upgradeable weapons and armor. It was basically like playing Resident Evil, but in space, and it was good.
So I’m pretty excited to finally hear confirmation from EA and Visceral that Dead Space 2 is official. Now we wait for them to revive Battlefront 3, and maybe make Mirror’s Edge official, and 2010 should be a pretty good year.

I thought Dead Space was the best game that I played that year, I only feel that they should have avoided stupid turret boards, like when you had to shoot asteriods. Seriously that sucked, I would much prefer larger levels with mindless dead ends to get you in trouble or reward you with sick loot, or maybe a few sub-bosses dropped in and more zero gravity boards. It may sound like I want a lot but honestly it was a great game and really doesn't need any fixing as much as it could give you more hair-raising experiences as oppose to some simple board fillers. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASe no more turret boards!!!!
Agreed, although I loved Mirror's Edge
This game was one of the best games of the year and I absolutely love it. I read Game Informers "Top 200 Games" of all time and was pissed Dead Space wasn't any of the 200. I accept you could debate forever about the contents of the list but Dead Space deserves to be among those top 200
Yeah. I love survival horror games (like Resident Evil) and Dead Space was leaps and bounds better than any RE game I've played. What sucks is that all of the necros are in the same place as they were originally on subsequent playthroughs, which kills the replay value of an otherwise stellar game.
I just reinstalled it last night, shit. Time to go play again!
I think they could advance the AI of the bad guys and have a more random spawn kind of like left 4 dead(just not as many Bad Guys) I also think they could a first person option like in Oblivion(just a click of a stick and your in first or third). I also think instead of turrets how about hackable computers, but not to many and not on every level, just add a little puzzle to the game.
Those are just a few ideas, I'm sure I'll have more like quick side missions that are stand alone like the spec. ops. in MW2-just tailored to Dead Space(space jump repairs, spacewalk races ect. ect.) Not sure if there is a way to make an online format, but battling other engineers might be fun.
How exactly is EA sitting on Battlefront 3? that game was made by Free Radical and to be published by LucasArts (or Activision Blizzard in the PAL regions). Unless you are referring to Pandemic taking over after Free Radical, and that Pandemic employees are now into EA (those that are left anyways), but it was never confirmed that Pandemic took over SWBF3.
Its coming out this year!! http://www.kaycircle.com/index.php?q=What-is-the-...
