Review: Monopoly (iPhone)

Monopoly iPhone Screen 1

If you’ve never played Monopoly in your lifetime, do yourself a favor and go into hiding. It’s a classic that everyone should know. The Here and Now edition of the game was previously released on the iPhone, but everyone wanted to the real deal, of which EA has finally delivered. This is the true Monopoly game you know and love, perfectly executed for your gaming enjoyment.

Monopoly on the iPhone takes everything tedious about the board game and fully automates the process. You don’t have to worry about counting money, finding spots on the table to store your deeds, or worry about the cat stealing the race car piece mid game. Yes, that has happened to me. With all this taken care of, games can be as quick or as long as you make them. You can play by yourself against up to 3 AI opponents, take on friends by passing your iPhone around, or play others over local WiFi or Bluetooth multiplayer. My favorite feature is the ability to set your house rules, so if you like to start with a weird amount of money, make landing on Free Parking net you a nice nest egg, or some other odd venture, you can do that in Monopoly for the iPhone.

I have one wish for the game and that is online multiplayer. I’d love to play with friends who aren’t in the same location. Hopefully EA will add this feature in an an update in the near future, but it’s by no means a deal breaker.

For $4.99, you’re paying much less than the actual board game and it’s worth every penny. This has become my go-to game on the iPhone when I have a few extra minutes. You can save your game at any point, so don’t feel like you need marathon sessions. Every iPhone owner needs a copy of Monopoly.

Sweet, I was just saying to my friends that I wanted to play this! Only problem is if I get mad and chuck the board up in the air… it will cost me 200+ dollars… lol. BTW, I can always tell when an article is written by you even if I miss your name at the top. I don't know what it is but I like your writing style.
