When Capcom announced Super Street Fighter IV as a standalone expansion and not DLC, a lot of gamers got their panties all in a bunch. My guess is that half of those gamers just want to bitch and didn’t buy SF4 in the first place. While I was a bit disappointed, I can completely understand the need for this to be an entirely new game. With all the under-the-hood changes in addition to the new fighters, new network code, etc., it wouldn’t have been feasible to make this into a downloadable package. However, it’s still a short period of time between Street Fighter 4 and what I’ll call Street Fighter 4.5, which has caused pricing to be at the forefront of all discussions.
A listing on GameStop indicates that we’ll be shelling out $39.99 for a copy of Super Street Fighter IV in March. Sounds about right to me, and I think it’s a fair price for everything you’re getting. Since my SF4 game save wouldn’t transfer to my new PS3 Slim, I lost all my unlocked characters, stats, and all that good stuff (BJ and I both got sad when we fired the game up after Uncharted 2 Wednesday night, remembering after the fact that everything was gone). Getting SSF4, with everything unlocked from the start, will make me a happy camper.
What about all of you? Do you think this is fair pricing from Capcom? Will you be picking up the new version of the game? I’m just hoping the costume DLC I bought (I know, I know) transfers over to Super Street Fighter IV…

I had Killer Instinct on Gameboy. I ALSO had Virtua Fighter 4, one of my favorite games. I say HAD because your sister borrowed it. I’m sure it ended up buried under half eaten Oreo’s and half empty Dr. Peppers…
