Coincidentally, as the weather gets colder in the Northeast, AAA games begin to surface. While this is a great excuse to stay inside, it can’t happen without the money to buy the games. While looking through my game collection, I noticed that I hadn’t played most of the games in at least 4 months or more. If I did play one of the games, it was merely to kill some time over summer vacation. After looking at both Best Buy and GameStop’s trade in values respectively, I learned that I could easily get over $160 for all of my games. By now most of you how we here at Loot Ninja feel about GameStop. To end up trading my games in with them was a huge surprise to me. Find out why below.
While researching the value of my trade-ins, I came across a special which GameStop is currently running.
Trade any games towards the pre-order or purchase of the best upcoming games and receive an extra 25% Trade-in Credit!
If any of you recall my last article, you would know that Best Buy gives you much more for your trade-ins. However, with GameStop’s extra 25% they offer for your used games, I actually ended up coming on top with games such as Call of Duty 4.
After much debate, I ended up going to GameStop. I ended up with a grand total of $203.73 from 19 games. This isn’t too bad considering older games such as Perfect Dark: Zero and PGR3 were on the list. While I usually recommend staying away from GameStop, the 25% deal and the convenience may make it worth it to trade in some of your older games now. If you do go this route, I do recommend spending all of the trade in money immediately because if you lose the card they put the money on, you’re shit out of luck.
If you have to know what I put the money towards, I have Forza 3, COD:MW2, Liberty City Stories, and Bioshock 2 waiting for me. In addition, a receipt of my games I traded in and their respective values can be viewed by clicking this link.

They had a similar deal when I traded my stuff in last week. I got an extra $20 for every 3-4 Xbox 360/PS3 games I traded in.
Great article. Personally, I wouldn’t trade in GoW2. I still have fun playing the multiplayer or horde mode. Though I do understand trading in CoD4 for CoD6 aka MW2.
Regardless where we trade in games, we always get bent over and screwed. On average you got 10.72 per game and that was with their 25% extra. This is why I don’t even bother getting rid of games unless there is zero chance I’ll play them again.
I’m in my senior year of high school and school > games.
The reason I got rid of GOW 2 and Halo 3 (which I sold to a friend) is that they make me want to punch things when I play online.
Overall I’m pretty happy to have traded these games in and have my winter / spring releases paid for. I’m going to start trading in games a lot sooner if I don’t find myself playing them (a.k.a Perfect Dark: Zero).
If your getting a dollar for trading in a sorta new Madden, I would of kept it.
I’d have to say it’s probably one of the worse Madden’s released though. The whole powerup system really killed that year. NHL is getting better and better though
I would have kept the Orange Box but then I keep all my games. Does that make me a freak? The only time I let go of some was to send them to the troops last year as a donation. I still have my favorite Game Cube games and some Super Nintendo games (and the system). Maybe I’m just a pack rat.
Usually I would keep everything but I’m going to college next year and my mom’s moving into a condo.
I have a NES, Genesis, PS1, PSONE, PS2, and games for all of them. Those are probably going to be sold as well as I don’t see myself touching them for another few years. I was also looking through my old PC collection and found Quake III: Team Arena (my first multiplayer game
).
Just a note.. If you used the EDGE card you could have gotten another 10% extra since it stacks with that promotion.
Also if you didn’t have an edge card then it still would have made sense to spend $15.00 of the credit towards the subscription since you were making $200.00 w/o the EDGE Card. You would have gained then an extra 10% on everything which would have netted you at least a $5.00 profit even after buying the EDGE card, and then you would have it for a full year a mag subscription.
Take a look at my receipt
I never get rid of games either…. guess I’m a packrat too.
