Sony today confirmed what we already knew: a 250GB PS3 will be coming to North America. What we didn’t know was the ship date and price, which are November 3rd and $349.99, respectively.
The new system will be exactly the same as the current PS3 Slim but with a bigger hard drive. If you’re a big fan of downloading all kinds of stuff, go for it. It’s well worth the extra $50 to get more than double the storage space. It’ll cost you more to buy a bigger hard drive and install it yourself.
We’ll see how Sony fares this Holiday season with, yet again, the highest priced console on the market.

Keep in mind it is pretty easy to throw a new hard drive in an existing PS3 – for $72 you can throw a faster, 320gb hard drive in one. Western Digital also makes 500gb drives as well.
Handy if you use the PS3 as a media center, much how I have mine set up.
Yeah, not a bad deal. I have Tversity that I use to stream movies from my Windows desktop, but it has issues with streaming to my PS3. Works great going to my 360. I don’t really store much on the PS3 hard drive other than games.
