PS3 Motion Controller on Track for Spring Release

Sony PS3 Motion Controller E3 2009

Sony sent out a press release detailing all the goodies with their upcoming motion controller, which is still on track for a Spring 2010 release. The controllers have high-precision, highly accurate motion sensors used in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye camera (in lieu of a sensor bar). It should give true 1:1 response, which is key.

Along with touting how great the controller is going to be, Sony released a list of launch titles for the new controller. Some are new, others are already available and will be patched for support (those with an asterisk).

  • Ape Escape (Working Title)
  • Echochrome 2 (Working Title)
  • Eccentric Slider (Working Title)
  • Sing and Draw (Working Title)
  • Champions of Time (Working Title)
  • Motion Party (Working Title)
  • The Shoot (Working Title)
  • Tower (Working Title)
  • PAIN(*)
  • Flower(*)
  • Hustle Kings(*)
  • High Velocity Bowling(*)
  • EyePet(*)

I’m a big fan of High Velocity Bowling and Flower, so I’m interested to see how well the motion controller will work with those titles instead of the current Sixaxis controls. No pricing has been set for the motion controller just yet, nor has a final name been decided upon. I wouldn’t expect this to be too cheap, so start saving.

  1. Is it still going to look like a dildo?

    1. Yep, still going to have the color changing ball on the end. That’s what the PS Eye camera actually detects for the controller placement

  2. Nice, a dildo with balls on it. Way better than a will remote with a condom on it.

Please tell me it vibrates. Juvenile humor lovers and adult video game makers worldwide will rejoice!

If it vibrates, it will get a lot of the “Older-Women-Who-Are-Not-Really-Gamers-But-Will-Say-They-Are-Buying-It-For-Their-Kids” traffic. Just sayin’.

… And asking for “bumper-car games”.

  6. Activision’s Masturbation Hero will be the first rhythm game I buy.

Is Loot Ninja going to compensate me for the keyboard and monitor I just lost, or you?
