An explosion in the galaxy!! Meteors red and blue suddenly come crashing down to a beautiful alien planet.  (sound familiar?) The meteor cracks open and out crawls an evil red creature named Zarkhator.  The adventure begins and Spore Hero is born.

Our demo was given by Product Marketing Manager, Aaron Krause. Spore Hero is a story adventure; your goal is to defeat Zarkhator and save the alien planet from the effects of his presence. The longer he stays, the more the planet and animals change and become evil. While exploring the planet you can find new parts that can be used to upgrade your creature while in his nest.

Creature editor

There are over 250 parts to be found or earned. Other tasks include finding parts for an ancient guardian, finding all the shards of the blue crystal and  battling Zarkhator several times and unlocking new maps. You can never die in the game, you just get knocked unconscious and sent back to the nest.

Battling Zarkhator

If you just want to fight, you can build creatures and challenge your friends in battle mode. This is a very different game than Spore so please don’t expect it to play the same way. This is an adventure game with a goal and with fighting. The kids will probably have a blast.

Spore Hero Arena

Spore Hero Arena is for the DS. The graphics and game play are a HUGE improvement over the original Spore for the DS. There are multiplayer capabilities, four players locally and 2 players over WiFi. You can also trade creatures. The game story is a bit different from the Wii game, as you meet mysterious creatures and your goal is to win battles and become the champion. The evolution chamber (where you modify the creature) is a full 3D creator. The creature parts look like the parts from the PC game which impressed me greatly. Lead producer Jason Haber said there is a huge shock twist ending, he didn’t tell us what it was so I guess you have to play to find out.
