I recently had one of those yearly events called a birthday. On this birthday I received a Nintendo DSi (which is really cool) and a game called Professor Layton and the Curious Village. “Solve brainteasers to crack the case!” I started playing this game on the plane recently and I’m hooked.
The story line is cute, Professor Layton the puzzle master is hired to investigate the last will and testament of a wealthy Baron. He travels to the town of St. Mystere (love that name) where he encounters puzzles and riddles from the villagers. As you explore the village and meet the people, you encounter pieces of the mystery and puzzles that range from really easy to really hard.
Example: You have 3 wolves and 3 sheep on one side of the river, you must get them to the other side but you can’t have more wolves then sheep or they get eaten. You must have at least one animal on the raft each time.
I have to say, that one took awhile to figure out but I did it. You collect hint coins along the way from random locations and you can spend these on puzzle hints. As it’s getting late, it has you thinking, “just one more …”. Definitely worth it as an addition to your DS collection, this will definitely be a game I’ll finish. Look for the newest game, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box for more puzzle fun.
