While most of you gamers out there are anxiously awaiting the release of Madden 10 this Friday, Trials HD on Xbox Live Arcade will undoubtedly be the unsung hero of this week’s releases coming two days earlier than Madden does.  HA! Take that Madden! I won’t let you have the entire spotlight for this week in game releases!  I don’t want all of you to forget about the greatness that is Trials HD!

At the heart of it, I’m an NHL 10 kind of guy, so the football craze around this time isn’t really my thing.  Yeah I know, I live deep in the heart of Dallas Cowboys insanity, so this really is a shocker.  Some say I should give my social security card back to the government, leave the country, and don’t get to ever set foot on American soil ever again for having said that type of blasphemy.  But what I lack in love of American football, I make up for in loving death, mayhem, dismemberment and destruction.  At the heart of Trials HD, that is exactly what you are going to get out of this game.  Does that make up for some of it?  I mean, I also still love greasy hamburgers?

The name alone sounds like a weird version of a high-definition Olympics titled game from Nintendo (C’mon really? Trials?), but really it is more along the lines of an updated version of an Excitebike demolition game for the Xbox.  Instead of ramping over those harmless water hazards, you ramp over fire, panes of sharp glass, and tons of exploding barrels.  All of these elements could potentially kill the bike rider, so it’s as if the developers gave you a lit match to balance on your finger tip, and poured gas all over the ground around you.  It’s just a matter of time before you hurt or kill your character in fun ways.

I have not had any hands-on time with Trials HD, but as we all know we don’t really need hands-on time to be excited about a future game release.  All we need are gameplay videos, feature demonstrations, and hear the overall buzz going on from the gaming community to get ecstatic.  That’s kind of where I am with Trials HD.  I was thinking of one thing in my head because of the name, and completely got cold cocked with a right jab to the face, then sent falling down towards an exploding barrel……
