Well folks, The M.G.C. event went off in style last Saturday. I think the pictures will give you a little insight on what to expect at an M.G.C. event near your home town as well. Don’t forget to check out the video too, one of the prizewinners gave Loot Ninja a little shout out.
Here’s a brief rundown of how the events work, and the prizes and giveaways:
Registration opens up at 5:00pm, and it’s basically a free-for-all warm-up period for about two hours, until 7:00pm, which is when the tournaments officially start. Each tournament is laid out on a big dry-erase board, March Madness style. You play your matchup, and the winner moves on to the next round, it’s as simple as that.

Prizes for each tournament progress as follows:
- 1st place = $150 cash money, Official MGC winners t-shirt
- Guitar Hero 1st place winner also received a Guitar Hero special edition wireless controller package
- 2nd Place = $50 cash money, Official MGC winners t-shirt
- 1st place i-Play Fast and Furious cell phone game = Winner receives a free cell-phone ($300 value) and the t-shirt, no cash though.
- 2nd place = $50 cash money, Official MGC winners t-shirt

Anyway, there were multiple giveaways all night long, random new music trivia, McDonalds trivia, and one impromptu Guitar Hero challenge from the event promoter. The prize for all of these was an Official MGC winners t-shirt.
Warheads, one of the sponsors, had a booth piled high with free Warheads candy and swag. They also did a segment called the “Warheads Sour Face Challenge”, where people would put 5 or 6 Extreme Sour Warheads in their mouth at once, and make a sour face for the camera. At the end of the summer tour, Warheads will pick the person with the most sour looking reaction, and that winner will get a free Nintendo Wii.
Pretty sweet eh? No, I mean sour…..wait……wut?

One note about the competition, the winners this year were not, I repeat NOT slouches. These guys brought some SERIOUS game, and went all out, especially the Madden 09 players.
I would also like to give a shout out to Brian Avers, from Affinity Sports & Event Marketing. He really knows how to organize the events well, was very accommodating to the Loot Ninja crew (myself), and everything went off without a hitch.
So, in closing, you nerds need to get your butts out to an M.G.C. event in your city, rock those analogs, and win some prizes.

Hey Kohlbecker, did you take notes on the lack of Jorts?
McCafe sponsoring ha. Are gamers really going to get fancy coffee drinks from McDonalds? Talk about wrong demographic. Those drinks are made specifically for 25-50yo redneck and ghetto women.
