This isn’t really all that surprising, but Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be making its way to the PSP this Fall. Sporting improved graphics, some new missions, and a few other goodies, the game will be available both on UMD and as a download for your PlayStation Portable.
When the news popped across my desk, I immediately got in touch with Rockstar’s PR department. A few questions immediately jumped into my mind. Is this release in direct response to the lackluster sales on the Nintendo DS? Will the PSP version feature enhanced multiplayer? What about the cool portions of the game where you used the DS stylus, such as hot-wiring cars and putting together your sniper rifle?
Rockstar isn’t saying anything more than what was in the press release, so they couldn’t comment on any of my questions just yet. Don’t worry, though, because I’ll keep hounding them until we get the answers. Hit the jump to see the full box art.

I’d say it definitely was a factor. I’ll also say that Nintendo really has nobody to blame but themseleves for this.
The internets was rife with speculation that the PSP would see another GTA game before GTA5 (or GTA4: City) arrived. Heck, iirc, Rockstar openly discussed how they usually do make a PSP game in between home-console iterations.
Having said that, this development has all but confirmed my PSPGo purchase. Nothing is better than having a Rockstar title at launch, even if this isn’t an honest-to-goodness launch in the end.
