Review: New York Nights (iPhone)

New york nights 1

New York Nights is a cross between the Sims, a RPG, and a Tamagotchi. The premise of the game is to take your character on a series of adventures which start with you interacting with a famous actress. The goal of the game, well, is to experience the nightlife of NYC via a little cartoon man. The graphics of the game are pretty good for the iPhone and the controls are tight. If you want to walk to a specific spot, you will go right there. This function allows you to explore your apartment, the streets, the club, etc. anyway you want.

New york nights 2

The issue I have with the game is that, well, it is not that exciting. There really is no action. You move from place to place and then you see what happens. The tempo of the game is how you make it, but it will never speed up to where you cannot put it down. For me, it was not too much fun because I live in NYC. If I wanted to go to Times Square, I’ll go in reality, not in iPod land. Yet, most people don’t live in NYC and it is a nice way to see the sights without really seeing them. If you are a fan of Sims type games, I would definitely check it out. Otherwise, just hop on a bus to Port Authority.
