Battery life is a big deal is portable electronics. My iPhone has fairly crappy battery life and my PSP Slim isn’t that much better. When I asked Sony about the battery life of the upcoming PSP Go at E3, I was told “about 5 hours”. It seems that may be on the high end.
The European PlayStation.Blog has some info about the upcoming digital distribution only handheld, indicating the PSP Go will only see 3 to 6 hours of battery life playing games and 3 to 5 hours for watching videos. This puts it on par with the PSP-3000.
Given the fact that the PSP Go’s battery is fully contained, it makes it tough for longer trips when you want to strap in for an epic session of God of War: Chains of Olympus. I was expecting a bit more since the screen has been reduced and there’s no UMD drive sucking up precious battery cycles. I’m sure a few third parties will be taking advantage of this slip up and will be providing extended play battery packs for the PSP Go this Holiday. I’m definitely getting a PSP Go anyway. It’s just that damn sexy.
how are they making extended battery packs…i thought the psp go had a ebeded battery…
In the same way people make extended battery packs for the iPhone. You can have an external power pack that plugs in to the USB adapter.
It can also clip onto the back or something like the iphone / ipod. They could easily add another 6 hours with a battery that “hugged” the back of the device.
Really disappointed to hear about the battery life, but it does look really sexy I don’t if I’ll be making a purchase though, a lot of games already coming out in November
im tired of people complainin bout batt life just lower the brightness dats wat i do wit my itouch lasts me the whole day same with my psp and imma do it with the psp go
well it’s just for marketing they’re not gonna give you the best in the world they want some money of it
i be t that’ll they’ll be releases larger memory and larger battery life later in the year
What’s the industry standard? 6 hours is a long time for a battery that size on a device that powerful. Compare what the PSP (and DS) does to what your cell phone does at a similar battery strength.

the battery life on my psp is great but this is just average (still gonna get one)
im thinkin bout gettin 1 but with the slightly smaller screen and the possibility of a psp go with a larger screen comin out, im gonna wait till january
