umm guys, the DLC is unlockable in game without purchase by completeng the challenges or winning the tournaments. This is probably the first game I have seen that has done this properly.

Everything you can buy online you can unlock for free(other than the courses) like the guy above me said. You can maxe your stats without paying a dime if you have the time to play through the game for a while and I don’t see the problem with it, I can beat plenty of maxed stat golfers with Tiger or my own custom. It all comes down to user skill over stats.

the stats in PGA 10 are dynamic. Even IF you max them out, a few crappy rounds of golf and you’re right back where you were.

umm guys, the DLC is unlockable in game without purchase by completeng the challenges or winning the tournaments. This is probably the first game I have seen that has done this properly.
I tested this out earlier. When you unlock an item in the challenges you get the option to buy it in the PSN store, or buy it with the in game cash earned in tournaments. I chose to buy one in store, ad all it did was brought up the purchase screen for the set, and then unlocked all the items. they were all there before, just locked until I finished the corresponding challenge.

Besides, the equipment only allows a max 2 pt boost to each attribute (even if you have every item with +2 each on your character)

The only DLC I have found that cannot be unlocked in game, and must be purchased is a 17th course (spyglass hill)

Yea that’s no fun at all. So much for even wanting to play this online if I got it.

By the way… you should do a rant on Halo 3. You can only play 3 game types if you don’t buy all the maps. It’s really kind of annoying because if I want to play anything besides Lone Wolfs or Social Slayer I have to drop $20 on maps.

At least COD didn’t do that.

I was also disappointed to see the DLC offered. The game just came out, and they already want you to pay more for an additional course. I think the course is Spyglass Hill, and I seem to remember that being included in past versions of the game for free, so this feels like a ripoff.

I also thought a big part of game design was to encourage you to explore and play longer by offering upgrades as a reward. If you can just go out and buy the upgrades, then how much time do you really want to invest in the game? I think you would enjoy using the upgrades more if you had earned them yourself.

the DLC was cool for a minute but a million costumes and stickers later, it is stale as hell and they are just trying to make $$ not be fun and innovative.

I say fuck EA. Golf clubs and max stats in a golf game should be in the game, not “DLC”. And paying for cheat codes is fucking fucked up , we are in a recession dame it.
If I did play golf games alot, I would buy this, but I will NEVER buy the DLC, even if my life was on the line.

Let’s not forget that it is in fact, just a game. Have fun with it. My self esteem is not vested in my performance in any game, it’s simply something I do for fun. As far as DLC is concerned, think of it as similar to an expansion pack – the purchase of which has never been a controversy. There are instances in which DLC seems like greed on the part of the publisher (such as $10 for offline multiplayer in Burnout Paradise), but then again, I knew it was single player when I bought it, split-screen multiplayer has happily fallen by the wayside anyway, and I’ve yet to see the packaging of a game misleadingly advertise a feature which appeared to be included but had to be purchased instead. You can do without DLC and still have a great game, or you can choose to extend the playability of said game; in my opinion it’s a nice option to have. DLC is here to stay, but you can decide if you want to pay. Welcome to capitalism.

In regards to LBP, that’s a completely different matter. The DLC there is cool and doesn’t give certain players a large advantage. It’s not cheat codes, they’re extending the gameplay
