Your Scurvy Ways Mean No Trophies for PSP

PSP Go Image

Back in December, I questioned whether Sony would ever bring Trophies to the PSP. It’s a logical extension of the service. With everything going on at E3, I completely forgot to ask Sony about this. Luckily, Joystiq didn’t. When posed the question, Eric Lempel – Director of PlayStation Network Operations, had this to say:

You’re not going to see Trophies on the PSP.

Just why is that? Because you’re all dirty, theiving pirates. Lempel went on to say “if people can artificially inflate their rankings and amounts of Trophies, it kills the whole system.” Fair enough. The PSP has been hacked to death, so it wouldn’t take too much for the astute PSP Scene to come up with a way to hack the Trophy database on the platform.

How about this, though… Sony comes up with a firmware update that can prevent hacking? I know, I laughed while writing that too.
