Siberian Strike for the iPhone is a WWII vertical shooter which is very, very similar to 1941, 1942, 194x, etc. The game allows you to choose from one of three fighters which vary in speed and strength, although you will not notice any difference besides the color and the shape. The game’s controls are very good for a flying shooter. You move the airplane back and forth by simply touching the screen and dragging and, while you are moving, the plane will shoot. Very easy and effective. You can charge you weapon by touching the screen with another finger, although while charging you cannot shoot and will be hit many times and eventually crash.

The game allows you to pick up weapon upgrades, health, and the always helpful team attack where your other pilots fly next to you. The game is not bad, but is basically the same WWII shooter you have been playing since the 1980’s. The graphics are decent and the music is standard. The levels do get repetitive, as much shooters do. There are boss battles which are a nice challenge. There is a story, but chances are you won’t realize it. This is a nice alternative to much of the other games, but is the same thing we have seen before.
