Pre-order case shots were leaked, people broke embargoes, and all kinds of info came out early. Sony finally dropped the hammer and officially confirmed all the details of the multiplayer modes in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. You’ll be able to rock out with 10 player (5-v-5) competitive or up to 3 player cooperative play.
The competitive modes will include your standard Deathmatch as well as a Plunder mode where you race to collect the most money. Teamwork will be essential in navigating the levels, which will be largely vertical, so communication will be key. I have a feeling that won’t happen too well, as most people online with the PS3 don’t have a headset.
Sony also confirmed the beta, which runs from June 3 through June 28. Picking up inFamous will score you a beta code, so I have a strong feeling that game is going to sell pretty well. It’s a good way to garner interest for the game which may have been overlooked by the masses otherwise.
I’m still strongly on the fence about multiplayer in Uncharted 2. While Plunder sounds very intriguing, I have to wonder if the game really needs to add competitive play?

ehh most people on psn don’t have a headset? what?
it may be because i pretty much only play socom but i RARLEY see a player with no headset.
i do know that last year that was true but its alot better now.
Socom players predominantly have headsets. If you go over to Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Burnout Paradise, LittleBigPlanet, sports games, it’s a whole different story.
yeah killzone 2 ive noticed that alot of those guys dont use heasets so it makes coordination impossible. my point is if you can fucking afford a ps3 you can definitly buy a headset.
A lot of players on R2, CoD4/ 5 and KZ2 have headsets… they probably don’t feel they need one in Burnout, and LBP probably has a higher percentage of children playing. I also have a hard time believing that a lack of headsets is really going to hinder this any more than other games? I guess my real question is why would this not be a good thing?
In a gameplay mode where you must work together to get by, not being able to communicate with teammates is a problem.
In every match of KZ2 and R2 I’ve played (which is quite a bit), I’d say no more than 50% of people playing have headsets.
Chad, same thing goes on the 360… a lot of games have ~50% of the players talking. The only way to make sure your whole team is chatting is to form a party of friends and considering this will only be 5v5, that shouldn’t be much of an issue… I’m looking forward to the beta to check this out.
haha. oops, I meant matt…
