To say people were upset about Six Days in Fallujah would be an enormous understatement. Konami announced the war simulator to swarms of controversy. The pressure proved too much, as the company announced today they won’t be publishing the title. In a statement to Japanese outlet Asahi, a Konami rep had this to say:
After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it [...] We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there.
The game just sounded too off-the-wall anyway, so this isn’t surprising. Konami said it wasn’t developed to be fun, but moreso to give you a feel of what it’s like to be a soldier. Don’t think that’s exactly what we’re all looking for.

Hasn’t anyone ever heard of GTA IV. Or how about movies? Full Metal Jacket, Clockwork Orange, Requiem for a Dream, Death of a President, etc. There have been a ton of war movies that have been very depressing as well.
There have been so many damn controversial games and movies. For a company to not release a game that is trying to depict REALITY is ridiculous.

Definitely hoping that someone else picks this title up. Maybe rockstar will (even though I have a feeling they would make it too unrealistic) since they seem to be good with not cracking under pressure from the media.
Epic could always pick this up. Maybe EA / Dice since they did the battlefield games.
Basically, whoever does pick this up has a game engine already built (or so it seems) so they would just have to polish it up and hopefully release a good game.

Umm I’ve read / watched a lot about Falluja. I’m just saying that a game that depicts a battle isn’t a bad thing. “Educating” more people about a battle that no one really knows about isn’t a bad thing. Hell it will probably make some people think what the hell is going on over there.
On the news you never really heard about Falluja, you just see the soldiers over there standing around.
