There have been a couple golf games on the iPhone which utilize the accelerometer for your swing just because they can. As such, many of them aren’t great games. Let’s Golf!, from Gameloft, eschews the gimmicks and gives you familiar controls along with solid graphics to provide a solid golf title for your iPhone.

The graphics and sound are extremely reminiscent of the Hot Shots Golf series. The main Tournament Mode allows you to prove your worth on one of four courses (2 unlockable) with any of the game’s four characters (again, 2 unlockable). There are three difficulty modes, so don’t fear if you’re still getting used to everything. If you’re looking for more pick-up-and-play, the Instant Mode will choose 3 random holes from any of the courses for you to play. What really impressed me while playing Let’s Golf! was the fluid controls, especially putting spin on the ball.

There are multiplayer options, both Hot Seat (which has you passing your iPhone around) and local wireless play. I would have liked to have seen online play or at least leaderboards to see how you stack up with other players around the world. Otherwise, there isn’t much wrong with the game.

Let’s Golf! is easily the best golf game on the iPhone. At $5.99, it’s well worth the cost of entry. The great graphics, controls, and variety of the courses will provide plenty of entertainment for the golfer in you.
