The best Castlevania is hands-down Dracula X. Who cares if it was retconned?

  2. EHT

  3. ILikePopCans

Castlevania on NES. I called it my “pixelated delicious”.

    I never did beat Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest. I can’t remember why.

  6. SnazzyGent

    Dracula X. Still my favorite.

  7. Jon Alexaitis

Castlevania for the original gameboy. It used to make me wanna throw the gameboy against the wall even at 8 years old. haha.

castlevania on NES. this was just a great time in general for gaming, when things were really new and fresh. castlevania was one of the standards that other games would come to have to live up to. definitely a classic, as evidenced by the fact that this series is still around !

Another day, another entry. My love for Dracula X has not waned. It is, and will forever be a part of my soul… and a good game.

    I’m in……again.

My favorite is still the first CV I ever owned, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest.

I still remember how awesome it was traversing the Transylvanian countryside, day turning to night, making things a little more challenging. Strange villagers giving mostly confusing and unhelpful hints. Even though this game has the most characters to interact with, it still comes off as desolate and strange. Also, this version of Bloody Tears is still the best.

Damn this game needs a Chronicles-esque remake.

castlevania nes, for reasons previously mentioned

  15. JKTrix

I first got into the Castlevania games for the GBA, so excuse my lack of history. I’ve played every handheld Castlevania that has come out since Circle of the Moon, including Dracula X and subsequently Symphony of the Night within that. All that said, the memory that sticks out to me the most is in Aria of Sorrow, when Soma Cruz transforms (if you don’t have Mina’s talisman when she is ‘killed’).
While the moment itself didn’t affect me so much, seeing the result of this transformation was. Just the little sprite artwork of Soma with his hair all messy and the tone of his red eyes… CHILLING. And then at the very end of the ‘bad ending’, Julius Belmont comes back to fulfill his promise. A great moment for me.

Actually, the Mina Killing/talisman was in the 2nd game now that I think about it. Got a little mixed up on that detail. But still, when he transforms in Aria of Sorrow and his art changes, that was truly chilling.

    Another day, another entry.

    I’m in.

The third day. The third entry. Friday the 13th. WoOoOoOoOo…

Still loving Dracula X until my last breath.

  19. ann

entering for today (my favorite is listed above with the reason). thank you for the giveaway!

  20. Nathan

I would definitely have to say that the Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP is my favorite. Man is it difficult. I just like how Castlevania manages to keep all the good things in, while adding new.

  21. EHT

    i want the swagg

  22. SnazzyGent

Dracula X is cold as ice. Rolling the dice. Swag would be nice.

  23. Symphony of the Night because I can play it on my 360 :) Great contest.

  24. Crowley

i like the castlevania for the n64. the name slips my mind right now but it was good stuff

  25. EHT

Castlevania: Order of Ecclessia was good but my most memorable Castlevania game has got to be Dracula’s Cruse ’cause that was my most played game on the NES. The other ones that were released on the Game Boy are also memorable classics.

  26. ann
