Leipzig Games Convention is No More

The 2009 Leipzig Games Convention has been officially canceled. What was once Europe’s biggest gaming event is no more.

While we here at Loot Ninja were never able to attend, we can still say it’ll be missed. A lot of big news always went down in Leipzig, but the economy is a bitch and not everything can live on. In its place, Game Convention Online will take place from July 31st to August 2nd. The convention’s focus will be on browser, client and mobile games.

What, if anything, will step up to take the place of Leipzig? GDC Europe hasn’t been as big, but could become larger after this announcement. Europe needs their big conference, so we’ll see how it all plays out.

  1. Leipzig was on my list of things to go to… I guess Oktoberfest will have to do instead… shucks….

    1. Yeah instead of checking out new games, you’ll be checking out new beer and boobies. I think it’s a fair trade off :)
