Circuit City Is Now Up For Grabs!

News just in, people. Circuit City, the American dealer and retailer in brand-name consumer electronics and entertainment software, has officially been put on sale as of today, according to my sources inside Circuit City here in New York City.

The company, who filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 amid $320 million 2007 fiscal year loss on November 11, 2008, has opened its doors looking for potential buyers to take heed of its stores. According to the source, if the company is not bought by January 16, 2009, it will be up for liquidation. You heard right, folks. Liquidation. That means forget a black friday sale, EVERYTHING will be cheaper than you can ever imagine. So, go to church, say your prayers and include the liquidation of Circuit City in there; this is an excellent time for you people without LCD’s, Plasmas, PS3’s, 360’s, etc. to go out and get what you’ve always wanted.

Sorry, Circuit City. As of now, you’re in between me and that 70 inch Kuros and the only way to move you is by liquidation.

I’m hopeful for full liquidation. I could use some new toys for dirt cheap.

  2. This was inevitable. The writing has been on the wall for a while now.

  3. I agree. Once they filed for bankruptcy and closed 155 stores, I knew the shit was going to hit the fan. It was only a matter of time before anything like this happened. I feel bad for their employees during this time, but, look on the bright side – their crappy employee discount will be awesome in the even of liquidation.

  4. Don’t assume that you’ll get stuff on the cheap if they go into liquidation. Remember when CompUSA closed their stores? Or Incredible Universe? All of the good stuff will get sold to an auction house before they ever sell for cheap out of their stores. That said, you’ll probably get a good deal on their shelves and display models.

  5. Well, CompUSA didn’t really close their stores. They were bought off by TigerDirect. But yea, I am pretty sure that, by Jan 16th., if no potential buyers have already obtained Circuit City consumers will see pretty big deals. They need to squeeze as much juice as they can before the banks begin to auction their things off.

so you’d have people “pray” for circuit city to close down? for all these people including myself to lose our jobs so you can get a ps3 half off? get a life douche

  7. Bill

mrBallistic is right. We won’t be the ones benefitting from this as much as you think. When the stores closed they were selling “liquidation” stuff for more $$$ than they listed on their own web site for cying out loud.

  8. @gabec

I wouldn’t have people do anything, realistically. Whether or not they choose to pray for that unfortunate decision is on them. However, I’m an atheist so I don’t pray. I’ll be crossing my fingers, though.

Damn, that sucks I liked Circuit City. It is my number one choice for purchasing electronics. It sucks and I for one, dont look forward to their liquidation. I hope none of you get shit for being greedy. Their service was always superior to Best Buy.

  10. I doubt consoles or games would be discounted too much. When Woolworths went under the UK there was no real price drop on these items. I wouldn’t be surprised if publishers, manufacturers, and distributors have deals in place to reclaim or sell these items at a certain price.

  11. Wow, cel989, that was a little harsh don’t you think? The better service is all relevant to personal opinion. Personally, the best service I’ve gotten was at Burger King because, ideally, they let me have it my way. But, Circuit City was a top choice of mine as well when it came to electronics because they always matched Best Buy/Amazon on the spot.

We can can sit here and cry about the harsh news of its demise, but fact of the matter is, shopping helps the economy. So, you’ll be doing everyone there a favor.

    Dear God,
Please lay off thousands of people and make their families lose their homes. We need a discount on a TV. Boy is your athiesm gonna hurt you in the long run when you find out there is a God and he kicks your ***.

  13. @ watch your karma
Word. I hope so, for my sake. I’ve needed it for a while. But here’s something for you to think about for a minute.

Can omniscient God, who knows the future, find the omnipotence to change his future mind?

Not relevant to the topic, right? Neither is my beliefs. I concur on the fact that it would suck if people lost their jobs, homes, etc. But, again, what is sitting in pity going to accomplish but anger and more self-demoralization? Sure, it IS sad that people are losing their jobs. Then again, it’s only bad because it was made public. Had it happened quietly, like the thousands of other people losing their jobs, it wouldn’t matter… hmm. Interesting.

  14. Best Buy is on the decline and this will almost guarantee that their service will get worse with less competition. I also don’t want people getting too hypocritical here, everyone is sad that people may get laid off but everyone is happy at the though of cheaper goods as a result of the liquidation, lets not get it twisted.

  15. Birdman18

i know everyone is happy to get liquidation and cheap stuff, but on a broader scale, thousands of people are going to lose their jobs, just like millions of other Americans so far and in the near future. kind of sucks……

    @ Yaris Gutierrez

No offense man, but you’re a douche bag and need to get a life. Lets go pray for everyone to lose their job so cheap assholes like yourself can get a deal on an LCD TV. Why don’t you get a better paying job so you don’t have to nickle and dime everything. Or is the current “recession” hurting you as well?

Maybe if you worked for Circuit City, you would more-so understand the full situation. Not your “Source” from New York. By the way, do you have any legitimate confirmation besides this “Source” for what is going on right now? I can make up an article on some website and say my “Source” Mr. Smith tells me that Brittney Spears will be showing up at a local Target store to buy some pepsi.

Come on, why don’t you learn to write an article, get a better job, and find some real sources to make up, copy, or write real stuff on.

    Thanks.

P.S – Nice avatar, makes you look very gangsta`! Have a good time in the end times, with your atheism. Hope you don’t come back as a tree or something and get the Bible printed onto you. :-)

  17. To everyone saying there is no proof, how about you take look at the press release that came out from Circuit City later in the day yesterday:

    http://investor.circuitcity.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=358471

This is 100% confirmed as our source was correct.

As for losing thousands of jobs, yes it sucks, but everyone, and I mean everyone, has known this day is coming. The writing has been on the wall and the company has been failing for years now. You can go back to look at their financial history if you don’t believe me, but filing Chapter 11, then reducing stores (twice), now finally looking for a buyer before shutting the whole thing down. Their business has been failing.

  18. @ Sneakypie

In all honesty, I appreciate the comments :) Blunt and all simply because it’s fact. As my buddy Matt just pointed out, and again you’re assuming that I don’t sympathize, this day was coming for a while. It’s not something that just spontaneously happened. I grieve for those people who might lose their jobs, but that doesn’t mean it should stop the world from moving on. It happens every single day to millions of folks. I just pointed out the obvious.

And yes I look “gangsta”, thank you :D I was actually going for the “hood” look. By the way, when is this so-called “End of Times” coming? I want to make sure I build my spaceship by then and have my things packed.
