GameStop Won’t Accept Xbox Trade-ins Starting February

As first reported on by Destructoid, I can confirm that GameStop will no longer be accepting original Xbox trade-ins for games, systems, and accessories starting February 9th. While in the store yesterday to pick up a few things, there was a hand-written sign on the counter and the store manager confirmed the policy when asked. They were waiting for the corporate issued printed up signs, but wanted to get the word out as soon as possible.

Since no games have been made for the system in about three years, I’d say the demand is pretty dead, so this isn’t all that surprising. If you still have some original Xbox stuff hanging around that you wanted to get rid of, do it now or try to sell on eBay or something of the sort.

Save the good Xbox games and sell it when the price sky rockets! If you manage to do that then, cool. But then again I doubt that would work since most of the games are available on the 360, still worth a try.

I don’t do trade-ins. I would rather eat the cost than help gamestop turn an extra profit off of me.

I’m not surprised at this – went to my local GameStop a few days ago and there were 3 large bins of used Xbox games, compared to 1 bin of used PS2 games.

Also – I agree with nostars: I sell my games on Amazon rather than trade them in.
