2008 Game of the Year – PS3

Sony had a fairly solid year with the PS3. Not the best, but some quality games definitely shipped for the platform. Check out our picks for this year’s top three on the PlayStation 3.

Coming in third is Resistance 2 from Insomniac Games. The sequel to the hot PS3 launch title took epic scale to a whole new level with 300 foot bosses and huge numbers of enemies on screen. Add in a unique eight player co-op mode which couples first person shooter with role playing elements and you have a sure fire hit.

In second place this year is LittleBigPlanet from Media Molecule. With a lot of hype behind it, LittleBigPlanet delivered with fun, cheeky gameplay, a lovable mascot character, and the absolute best use of user generated content on any console to date.

In first place, Loot Ninja’s 2008 Game of the Year for the PS3 is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from Konami. Solid Snake’s swan song brought about huge amounts of emotion from the player as the game’s five acts spanned highly detailed locals. Hideo Kojima did a great job of melding the tried-and-true stealth gameplay with more shooting action and the story is one of the best of the year. Congratulations, Konami!

Tomorrow, the Xbox 360 is on the chopping block. Come back for more!

I definitely agree with your summary, except I woulda flipped MDS and LBP around. But that’s my biased opinion, I love that game.
